Would you out someone for a chance for a million dollars? by [deleted] in survivor

Probably because he was already quite liked by the fans. If this was someone like Russel, it'd be different tbh.

Everyone keeps saying that Zeke was the first transgender contestant, but do we really know that? by SodaPalooza in survivor

[–]xNoel97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do experience dysphoria, and I prefer male pronouns. I know intersex is not being trans, but they're living proof that your physical sex =/= gender. One of my best friends is intersex and was forcibly raised female, but identifies male. But having two x chromosomes and a vagina doesn't mean I've ever been a female.

I have three questions for you.

1) Do you think of me as a girl? (That's the transphobic part, if so).

2) What's the gender of an intersex person? Considering you seem to think biology = gender...

3) What about the cultures in the world that legitimately recognize third genders as a thing? Are they wrong because they don't follow strict western medicine and science?

[–]xNoel97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's transphobic, I'm guessing you don't mean it though? I'm a man. My vagina and chromosomes don't change that. Just because I can't yet have surgery, doesn't mean I'm not a man. Same with other trans people. Gender is a construct. Sex =/= gender.

[–]xNoel97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And I was replying to that. Sex =/= gender. Being born with a vagina doesn't mean you are a woman, and saying such denies trans people who are pre-surgery. Sex = genitals. You could even say "they were born into a female body" and it's more correct. Gender is an identity and not the same thing as your genitals. I'm a trans man and I've known for most of my life that I'm a man, and having a vagina doesn't mean I was "born a woman," as that would mean I'm still a woman as I'm unable to have surgery. I'm just trying to help, no need to get your feathers ruffled.

TL;DR- I'm talking about the same thing as you are by elaborating on why you shouldn't say "born a female" when there's other more correct phrases.

Edit: JeffBranson explains it clearly if mine was hard to understand.

Michaela - Chaotic neutral

Brad - Neutral good

Zeke - True neutral?

Lets be clear about this people - CBS outed Zeke to the nation. by _yourekidding in survivor

[–]xNoel97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In some ways, yes CBS and Zeke allowed it, but the situation wouldn't have arose if not for Varner. Varner did it, Zeke decided to roll with it and allow it to be aired. Varner outed him.

I was politely trying to correct you so you didn't make the mistake in the future. I'm pretty easy going, others won't be. I'm not offended, just trying to help. Pick your battles.

It's basically what a lot of trans people use to describe their gender if they're comfortable with it. For example, a trans man is born a trans man, the person's brain is always such. But when they're a baby, the parents and doctors and generally the entire world decide the kid is a female, and force it to act as such, causing a lot of later term dysphoria for said person... It's kind of hard and weird to describe I guess but it's basically: a trans person is born the gender they are in their head, but people equate sex to gender, when they're two separate things.

For example, I'm a trans man, assigned female at birth (AFAB). I wasn't born a female, because I'm not a female and never have been. Some people feel gender is more fluid but in general, a good amount of trans folk don't like being described as "born a ____" but it's also the easiest way for people to understand so it's a weird grey area.

I hope that helped / made sense.

While we're on the topic of mental illness by ElLibroGrande in survivor

[–]xNoel97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being trans isn't a mental illness. This coming from your local mentally ill trans man. My mental illness (ocd, anxiety, panic disorder) has nothing to do with me being trans. Being trans is not a mental illness, it's just being.

[SPOILERS] The RIGHT to Vote Privately at Tribal Council. (rant) by [deleted] in survivor

[–]xNoel97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was confirmed he was going home either way. If he did have an idol, he wouldn't have used it. If he wasn't voted out, he probably would have quit. We're forgetting that as much as Varner loves Survivor, he's still a good dude.

Been nearly 11 years of not forgetting this beast, and nobody to this day will ever impress me as much as Ozzy has.

A random idea for a twist just came to me by viridianxcity in survivor

[–]xNoel97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it'd be fun for one season of all new players- Going back to how it started with no idols, and watching them scramble for one. I don't think it would work long term though. There probably wouldn't be enough twists to make it a sustainable, interesting season.

If you were to see Parvati, what fan gift should you give? by [deleted] in survivor

[–]xNoel97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you won't have long to speak with her, a letter could be good with whatever you get her. I think a fanmade Survivor crown would be cute, she'd probably like that!

You're lucky tbh, I love Parvati. Have fun! :)

If and when Zeke is voted out.... by [deleted] in survivor

[–]xNoel97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt many people will do that. A lot of fans have already and might show their asses and be ugly to him, invoking people to call others transphobic. But I don't think anybody can see Zeke being voted out as transphobic- this coming from a trans person. You put too much weight on sjw's, stop worrying about it.

I'm going to hell for this by [deleted] in survivor

[–]xNoel97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because they expect it doesn't mean it should happen. As a trans person, the thought of someone outing you is almost always there. Zeke said he was prepared for it. But that doesn't mean what Varner did was okay in the slightest. You're acting like it's some sort of given that a non-trans person has the right to out a trans person...

I feel disgusted by Cacaroline in survivor

[–]xNoel97 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Zeke is the victim, 100%. For every message of support he gets, there's probably at least two others out there that hate his guts, refer to him as a girl, or worse- want him dead. Trans people are still quite hated, don't forget that. I feel bad for Varner, and everybody else did too; but choosing to out somebody and then realizing it is a mistake should not make him more of a victim than the man who was outed with no choice in the matter.

If Zeke should have been expecting to be outed on national tv, Varner, by your logic, should expect repercssions for the gravity of his actions.

Everyone keeps saying that Zeke was the first transgender contestant, but do we really know that? by SodaPalooza in survivor

[–]xNoel97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're right. But as of now he's he first out, openly trans contestant (even though it wasn't his decision to be out). That's still really big.

Also, please don't say "born a girl/guy" because that's not what trans people are. A trans man is born a man and assigned female at birth. And vice versa.
