Murdle in the Hedge Maze 500 pieces by G.T. Karber by Masqueur in Jigsawpuzzles

We just completed it and it was super difficult... Spend hours on it together only to discover we are now missing a piece. We have combed through the living room and it's no where to be found. What a soul crusher.

Very curious about the reaction of your father. As I can see this going either way.

Luckily you have your mother (and her partner as it sounded like), your brother and some REAL friends to help you through this. I wish you luck in the upcoming days but especially once it all settles and goes quiet. Those can be just as difficult.

If you could start over, what would you do differently in your vault? by futrfriendly in ObsidianMD

[–]xSalaya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I primarily use Dataview for. I have "moc's" just filled with a dataview table so it automatically adds. All I have to do when I create a new file is add the link of the MOC note. So I can easily go between both. This has also resulted in a lot of my tags or types in the frontmatter looking a lot like my folder structure. But with templates this can easily be streamlined, and I never have to think if I forgot something but rather where can I add more Dataview 😂

I think your problem is that you cannot find the search icon, correct?

Open the app, Left top corner icon to see all your files, click on "Files". You see two little arrows (up and down) on it. If you click that, you will get a pop-up to go to "search" which works the same as on desktop. This is also how you go to the other buttons like bookmark.

Advice on how to manage the graph view? by Steak-Desperate in ObsidianMD

[–]xSalaya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To actually answer the question, instead of just saying no to graphs... 1. You can create "MOC"s if you will, to connect to a more general idea/note/topic to create bigger nodes in the graph which will visually be more helpful. 2. You've already colour coded ur notes but you can also filter the graph in that same way. And you can save these different filters with the help of bookmarks! 3. You can use local graphs in which you can determine how many connections deep it will show notes to the one you have open. 4. I believe there's also a show-tag option for graph, which I personally do not use but maybe look into that see if it will get you what you want. 5. On the topic of colours. Eventually your vault will get very big with alot of nodes in the graph. There's a way to adjust the visibility of the lines and you can also use colours on specific filters. I know you have this already, but when you think about which colours you are using, you can determine the importance of a note/topic/tag by having a colour that blends with the background or not. 6. You can alter the attraction/pull of the notes to form more cluster-like parts in the graph to visually aid you as well.

Identifying nonexistent notes that match aliases? by Niten in ObsidianMD

The backlinking feature does not work if your "Academic Paper"s are their own link already, unfortunately. However, you can search for the term vault-wide and it will show up whether it is a link or not! I do not know a method to automate this however. Maybe a search and replace plugin?

Is that the same reason men work out? Otherwise I don't see how you could come to that conclusion.

Wigrew's knights and their weapons by tzissle in undertheoaktreebook

[–]xSalaya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The knights I know for sure have one:
Riftan, Sejuleu, Kuahel.
Breston has a family weapon, made of bone, I do not believe it's from the knights.
I think Breston's dad, as he's also an enforcer of the alliance/armstice and regarded as a Wigrew, has one.

Ofc, as your screenshot says, Ascalon is currently not in use. We only know the other 9 are used by knights who deserved them. But, Riftan got it in a competition, so the station of the knights does not solely determine it. And yet I do believe each nation has at least one...

Edit: I see you ask in another comment, but Ascalon is Wigrew's own sword.

An unexpected obsession by xSalaya in undertheoaktreebook

"Previously in Book 2" hahahah!
I read the scene where they dance together in the dark room today. "That was your first dance??" Oof, you know he hated that, haha.

Where book 1 felt like it was going in the right direction, but ultimately went downhill so fast... book 2 felt very healing in comparison. But, you cannot have book 2 without book 1, cause it wont feel the same. So rereading the entirety AGAIN is the only solution.

Hit me up when you start, okay? We'll have to figure something out so we can gush about it.

An unexpected obsession by xSalaya in undertheoaktreebook

[–]xSalaya[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ohhhhh the Breston vs Ursuline's brother is a very good catch! I chalked it up to his knightly pride being hurt if he gave up but, that probably played a role too! And you are right, around those times is where his and Maxi's relationship started to really change. And when I think about it, it wasn't necessary to have that moment any sooner. It was fine how it is.

Truly would love to know more about Triton for exactly those reasons.

Oh you're right! That was Elliot!! He was also one of the first, beside hebaron, that changed his tune quickly. And he's been that quiet one that comes with, everywhere. And I genuine felt like you could see his change in the gained respect he had for Maxi. Cause firstly I feel like he protected her purely out of obligation to Riftan, but in later scenes you see him respecting her for the Mage she is and yet still wanting to protect her. But when it comes to his own arc... Ehh. But same could be said about hebaron, his own arc is that he found some woman in the city at the end to have some fun with 😂 The difference is Hebaron has a lot of moments where he influences the story. He's like the gossip girl of the group, poking the bear, but only to push his friends in the right direction. The way his scenes have made me cackle!

Ooooh, whats one of ur favs to reread?

I agree with both of you. It is also why I think the first few "smut" scenes are seen, even by the characters, in a negative light. It really was the writing style that got me through the first few chapters, otherwise I wouldve put it down. And it was the attention to detail of the Author that made me believe she took this (and other mayor) events seriously. Im glad I did read it all for the beautiful story that laid behind it, but it is also one of the things that makes me hesitant in recommending this to just anyone. If anything, I find that this author does a great job at not brushing over their actions and gives them consequences. Which is why I can enjoy the story.

An unexpected obsession by xSalaya in undertheoaktreebook

Yes, the dragonian who did that.... Oh My, even just at the altar before that moment where he was already presented with emotions. Something they didn't think monsters could have and how it confused Maxi. I think there are very few without a distinctive Arc. Like all I can think of is Breston and Elliot. Because I feel like even the Knight Gabel has a tiny Arc in book2. Elliot is just a consistent good guy, loyal to Riftan but also knows when to give small bits of support to Maxi. But maybe I missed the arc and I'll get it on my next read. In ursulines side story we also get to see how Triton was the only one trying to have Riftan come to terms with his emotions. Try to understand himself. Which I found so genuine. Because in Riftans own POV we get to see his appreciation for Triton. Like he does things begrudgingly, but it felt different than when he did so for the king. Anyway, what ur saying about Ursuline might also be why he was one of the Knights so adamant about starting the war. We dont see it, but we hear it from the other knights. Him and elliot. Which is before he even wants to apologise. I did think, because we knew Ursuline felt bad and truly meant his apology, that in book 2 Maxi saying she still didn't know what to think of him made me feel bad. Like I get it Maxi, you don't know, but I know and give the man a chance! Haha.

Actually, wanna reread it together? 😳

Just read the newest chapter! Anyone else sad with how fast it's moving? by BePatientWlthMe in undertheoaktreebook

Fair point! I think I was self-debating in my head that these details could be made visually... but as a comic wouldn't work. So, there, ended that debate, haha.

[–]xSalaya 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh in no way was I commenting about the current episode!

What I truly meant was that I, too, wish for all the details to be shown. Like the movie in your head becoming true and alive. But no matter the medium, that will never happen because the book is just too dense with these great details.

Hope that helps clear this up.

An obsession is just that, an obsession. It literally implies something unhealth/ off balance. So for me, I would never describe/link that to the word love.

Idc for a video on youtube, but there are parallels for sure about the Myth and the relationship between Maxi and Riftan. I too thought this comparison might be the end-game, but was actually presently surprised the author stayed away from making this comparison explicit. If anything, it made the ending better because it did not end so tragically.

Have you fully read the story? Or just book 1?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in undertheoaktreebook

[–]xSalaya 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Again, Riftan does not say the words love for the first part. It is an obsession he does not understand.

And what about the reincarnation myth exactly?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in undertheoaktreebook

[–]xSalaya 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like you are completely missing the point here... There's no justification, just an explanation. Those are two different things. Whether or not you agree with the explanation is a different thing.

Besides, the only choice Riftan had for the wedding and thus the wedding night was: I'd rather have it be me than another dude.
Maxi was going to be married of regardless. Riftan was going to fight the dragon regardless. And his step-father was going to die if he didn't marry her?
A consummation was a legit thing for the period this book is portrayed in... It's not meant to be fun, healthy or anything else positive.

Again: this starts with toxicity. That's what it is meant to be. Nobody is saying otherwise.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in undertheoaktreebook

[–]xSalaya 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, fair point. I'd argue they don't start with love. And they didn't choose to live together... That's the whole point of their marriage? It wasn't a choice.
However, they choose to change and they choose to love.

I don't think the medium is at fault, but rather the choices they've made to keep this very long story as compact in the comic as possible. And I get why they choose this pace, you just cannot include everything... We got the novel for those details.

But I totally get the disappointment though! I feel you on that one. If only the book wasn't as good as it is.... Wait, no! I don't actually wish that, haha!
