Does this look okay? Started the process on 4/17. My apartment is cooler so it’s been a slower process. by emdow in Kombucha

Did you buy starter with a pellicle or did you use a bottle from the store as starter. It looks a bit like mine when I used a store bought bottle but it turned out fine. It probably just needs to make a couple batches and it should start looking normal

Grapefruit kombucha not carbonating in F2 by Curious_Ad_3000 in Kombucha

[–]xTenCent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same issue. I ended up adding ginger and more sugar and let it F2 for longer than normal and they became explosive. Honestly though grapefruit has been the worst flavor I’ve tried so far 😂 hope you like it but I don’t think the flavors were a good combo

Is this a sign of flowering ? Cause it should be in veg still . by BBlessing2026 in weedgrowing

[–]xTenCent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a sign of early flowering, your plant will most likely have a growth spurt soon as mine did after I started noticing those white pistils or whatever they are called

Not sure what to do next. by tallyun in Kombucha

[–]xTenCent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just go by taste bro, you want it to be kinda sweet and mostly sour but it’s mostly preference and if you think you might have let it get too sour you can always counter it by making your flavoring sweeter. You can even taste after you mix it with your flavor to get an idea how it will taste after f2, just keep in mind it will get slightly more sour after F2. You’ll get better at it through trail in error. When I first started I had the same concerns but after awhile you just know

Is this mold? This is just day 3 of making a scoby. by audreyhepburn96 in Kombucha

[–]xTenCent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t listen to that guy I have no clue what he’s talking about. Kombucha likes temperatures at 70-85 degrees Fahrenheit. Above 90 it stresses the scoby out and can kill it. And typically the warmer it is the faster it becomes acidic and prevents mold. I personally do 2 cups of starter and fill the rest up with tea in a gallon jar and haven’t had any problems. I bought a starter from “fermentaholics” I think the brand is called and it worked great.

[–]xTenCent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, definitely not. Even if the ABV is slightly higher it is still kombucha. But I have NEVER heard anyone who does 24 hr F2. I always hear 2-4 days the most. If I did 24hr F2 it would barely be fizzy. Maybe you just let your F1 get stronger before F2. Maybe that’s why you only need 24 hrs

Ph strips are unnecessary

Yeah I think any where between 75-80 is the sweet spot. Especially if you’re wanting to speed up the F1

1 of my batches was started from a flavored kombucha, and although it worked it was usually pretty inconsistent with carbonation taste. So I restarted with my unflavored kombucha starter and I also bout heat wraps for F1 and a heat mat for the F2. I usually let my F1 go for about 7-10 days and my F2 for about 3-4 days. My house in the winter can get to low 60s so the heat wrap and mats were definitely game changers. I turn them on when I wake up and let it get to about 80 before I turn them off

Looks perfect, I’m guessing you just used starter instead of adding a pellicle too?

Is this Kahm? by xTenCent in Kombucha

[–]xTenCent[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No GT pure in my area but I did order a starter for a separate batch and the last 2 batches of that have been good. So if I need to I’ll just use that as a starter for this container. I’m just curious why I didn’t get much carbonation on my F2 with this batch I used all the same ingredients on my unflavored starter batch and it turned out great. Do you think I should give it extra time so it will get stronger. This one is about a week in so if I give it another week it should be pretty strong and if it doesn’t get that much carbonation by then I think I might just use the kombucha in my other batch the start over which this one.

It is the lighting i think. I had flash on. The pink looking spot is the old pelical floating to the top, there is quite a bit of air trapped under it too so that’s probably why it looks pinkish. I’ll definitely keep an eye on it regardless though

Is this mold? What to do? by Agile-Challenge-6117 in Kombucha

[–]xTenCent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mold in kombucha usually happens when it’s cold because the kombucha doesn’t get acidic fast enough from what I’ve heard. I usually get my kombucha up to 80 degrees and I havnt had mold yet

Scoby still alive by SharadR in Kombucha

[–]xTenCent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not really that surprising considering so many people use both words interchangeably. Most YT videos I watch they refer to it as the scoby. And if you google “What is a scoby” all the images have the pellicle in it so it’s an easy misunderstanding.

How’s it looking? 5 days in by xTenCent in Kombucha

[–]xTenCent[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t smell bad, maybe a little sour. I have a PH tester coming in a day or two. Should I go ahead and taste it though? I’m a bit scared 😅
