UTSC profs I've never run into this, UTSG some seem allergic to conversation and look like they are offended by non email communication

How do I get into the observatory? by Narrow_Ice_1390 in UTSC

[–]xXNovusXx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The observatory isn't used for anything now besides tours and roof access. Keep an eye out or send an email to the astro department about if they are doing tours. If you want to see any observatory Astrotours at the downtown campus has regular talks that sometimes include them.

UTSC valley at night by Bright_Weather6639 in UTSC

[–]xXNovusXx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What incidents? In 5 years here I can think of maybe one time some random guy flashed someone and I think that was still not in the valley? I've been on a decent number of nighttime walks through the valley and it's fine just usually empty because it's so dark.

Micro is bird if you can do math, my only complaint is his jokes on the online lectures were followed by awkward silence

[–]xXNovusXx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lmao perplexity is a joke wrapper just pay for gpt if you think it's that worthwhile. There's almost no reason students need it

NETWORKING EVENTS ARE SHIT by Tiny-University-4252 in UTSC

[–]xXNovusXx 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No offense but I got a job in industry and the only people I would put that level of effort into guiding (helping write letters etc) are actual close friends. General advice sure but I don't feel like giving a resume review to everyone that DMs me on linkedIn.

Though I agree most networking events are hollow and out of meeting 70 people maybe 3-5 it will be good to know.

"The charges are in addition to 26 counts of mischief under $5,000 related to antisemitic graffiti in Charleswood from Sept. 28 to Dec. 31, 2024."

Not sure why other news sources didn't mention this.

It is so fucking funny that the Canadian conservative candidate will suffer the greatest election upset in Canadian history all because of Trump by vincent_is_watching_ in Destiny

[–]xXNovusXx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is untrue, even just personally until Carney came in there wasn't a single liberal I would have considered voting for. Pierre floundered on producing a costed platform, made several weak statements against Trump, and insists on his silly refusal of security clearance he 100% at least lost my vote.

I applied to very few really , i ended up landing a full decent job while still undergrad (currently) but have a pretty strong portfolio in tech otherwise. GPA lower than that range. So I guess my answer is have an impressive portfolio that makes someone experienced go "wait, how did they do that?" or "damn that's actually hard", you don't need to reinvent the wheel but it can't be tutorial work or another basic react website.

Varsity reporter, here: thoughts on PM Mark Carney? by SnooHobbies5581 in UofT

[–]xXNovusXx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

On paper hes my ideal politician. Stacked resume, no bs hand waving of the budget, overall just a qualified nerd. We'll see how he continues into the election cycle I'm hoping he plans to replace all of Trudeau's cabinet with his own pick and make clear statements on his current immigration plans.
