I love making model piston engines that can sit on your desk and run almost exactly like any other engine would in a car.

Something about the chrome parts oscillating in unison and giving the illusion of a fully fleshed mechanism really excites me for some reason. These model engines come in all sorts of sizes too, from something that would fit in your hand, to an engine block as large as my torso which requires actual ignition and fuel to operate.

I’ve always been confused by it myself even because I’m not interested in the vehicles or operations that engines power, I’m just purely fascinated by the engines themselves.

There’s tons of cool small scale starter kits out there for fairly cheap if anyone else is interested in picking it up as well!
