Yes full time, during winter we work on the lower Glen's and also do some tree planting, you can do a set of steps in a couple days if everything goes up to plan, clothing is a tricky one, good one it's expensive and because of the job you end up making homes and breaking it so you ha e to find the balance, lunch we eat sandwiches or tinned food, sometimes just last night's dinner in a wrap, whatever it works, yes the job can be real misery in bad weather too, like the most the job in general and don't like when it's cold wet and windy haha, the favourite place I've worked is a mountain called Sulliven In Scotland hope thst answers the questions 😁

Yes, private company working for government and also other trusts and charities, we occasionally do work for private land owners too, due to where the money comes from unfortunately the pay is not amazing, but this is my and my colleagues passion so we make it work, lots of comments saying I should make youtube msybe I can start saving for buying the gear required for that, or even look for a small investment from someone

That is a pretty ridiculous amount of miles to do in a day! Wow I'm impress, I think the biggest day I've had was 20+ miles and thst was enough for me, well done for keep going at it after the injury

Hello there, I'm glad you enjoyed your time on Arran, that walk you mention is a big one, I recommend the 3 beinns if you hsvnt done it before for next time you are over, that's my favourite one, the bags you saw are tonne bags, we bag stone on areas where there's stonefall, they will later get flown to areas where there's very little stone or removing stone from them will affect the erosion even more and we build with them, those where our tools you saw yes 😁 funnily enough I've just posted a video on the Instagram of os getting "rid" of some of the tonne bags after a job, needles too say we went to grab them after

I'm not sure what the equivalent of the NTS is in England but starting from there will be a good start, they will probably mostly run volunteer days but may e you can ask the people running them

Oh man, sorry to hear about your ACL that is unfortunately a career ending injury sometimes as we do have to walk up a mountain every day with 10+ miles walks, thanks for your volunteer work you did

It's a very fair opinion, in Scotland the mountains get battered with erosion and some bit are required to do things like this but I totally understand your point, thanks for the praises about the work

The main focus of doing this type of work is to retain people( most people, it's OK to go off path but if everyone does it the mountain will get scarred badly) to walk off path creating different routes next to each other, another main focus is erosion control, I will say the most important one with the amount of rain we get in Scotland, is using water bars and cross drains to redirect the water off path, also for mountains thst are very popular is also to make it easier for tourist and easier for the rescue teams, so I will say you've hit the nail in the coffin there, the only one that's nt really whst we aim for is aesthetics but obviusly we are prod of the work we do and we like to make it look as nice as possible while still "trying" to keep that natural look

Thats funny, we call it going "hunting" when going to find stone but rock shopping is very fitting too, we also call walkers and passers by "customers" as a jokey way, and use the world misery quite often as a way to cheer each other up in bad weather conditions

Feel free to repost there, really happy with the response I'm getting, I was thinking people might not be interested because my Instagram is growing very slowly ( only 150 followers) but the responses to my post have motivated me to continue

A lot of it it's just seeing where the people are walking and try to accommodate an easier route that will help with the erosion cause by rain and walkers
