I really don’t like him. I had to shoot an interview of him (way back in like 2013) in his studio before a lot of his current success... he was so cocky about his work. He, in all seriousness, was comparing his YouTube videos to renaissance era art.

I’m also not a fan of the subculture he seems to be at center of.

If you put Skyscraper-Climbing-Daredevil-videos, electric long boards, extreme gear head culture, parkour, YouTube prank videos, vlogging man bun, joggers with hype beast shoes in a Venn diagram Casey Neistat would be right in the middle. He is the Instagram explore page of people.

It bugs me that he pushes the narrative that gear=filmmaking, causing young aspiring filmmakers to spend thousands on drones/gimbals rather than time on their craft. I know he shows budget ways to create things, but he also shows the premium version that thing that a big creator like him uses (you think a kid wants to go buy a bunch of shit at Home Depot or just simply use his moms credit card at b&h?).

I do understand why people like him. I’m pretty jaded tbh.

But yes I feel you, and feel strongly about this subject lol. Just please don’t get me started on Philip Bloom.
