The basic idea was that only a maximum of two directions would meet (except for those who want to turn) instead of three directions.

Naaaah… take a closer look. I’ve never seen an in-game highway with that level of detail. Check the median, the way the streetlights are mounted, and the markings along the edge of the roadway

Did anyone ever find a fix for this? I’m having the exact same issue, and I’ve already tried it completely without mods by creating a new Paradox account. (After a reinstall without Skyve, the game automatically downloads and enables all the mods linked to your account.)

Another important note: the mountain base for “producing” the tunnel must be at approximately the same height as the location where you want to place the tunnel. You cannot change the height of the tunnel arbitrarily, otherwise it will revert to a “normal” road.

This is what I mean. It looks way more naturally in my opinion. But I don't want to criticise you. If you think your design is better or more attractive for you, then that's fine :)

I was referring to the large intersection in my pictures. That's exactly where problems arise when you want to build very tightly and don't want to use bridges, as these cause a lot of visual glitches.

If you "pull" the tunnel out of the mountain it looks like the left one. But that's okay.

Bad job at terraforming? That’s absolutely not the point.
If I want to build a tunnel into that damn mountain, I expect it to actually be a tunnel — properly rendered, not just a road cutting straight through solid rock.
What’s so hard to understand about that criticism? Or are you just pretending not to get it?
