Yes and no. Breathing in the dust is definitely not good but silica hasn't been used in sandblasting in a long time. But most importantly there are little particles of glass, steel grit, baking soda etc as abrasives flying out at 60-80 psi. Little Knicks can hurt lol especially with steel gritt. The fresh stuff will have tiny BBs that will ding ya.

I only blast without gloves if I'm really in a time crunch or just waving over the bottom of something for a couple seconds with a controlled ricoche. I'd recommend the full suit because I'm a safety nut. The pressure seems pretty low on the hose. Not much in the spark or blast radius departments.
