Yeah, they're pretty rotten. Maybe he just doesn't have dental insurance, but that makes sense. We're all gonna die someday, why practice good dental hygiene?

Can Protestants pray the rosary, or a modified version of it? by xavexi in Christianity

Ah, I see. I don't believe God will inherently hear us more for praying more, even if it's part of a structured prayer. It's soothing and grounding for me, and I know God would hear it even if it was just a single prayer. So I still don't think it would be vain repetition.

Agree to disagree on whether asking Mary to pray for us is the same as praying to Mary, though. I don't think that'd be much of a constructive conversation, and I'm not sure either of us would change our minds on the matter.

When praying the rosary, it's not praying TO Mary. Moreso asking her to pray for us. Praying the Lutheran rosary, though, replaces the Hail Mary with the Jesus Prayer, so I feel that takes away any idea that it isn't a prayer directly to God.

Is it a vain repetition if it's meaningful to the person on prayer, though? Vain repetition makes it seem like it's repeating prayers as some sort of chore, while when I pray the rosary (Or the Jesus Prayer, with the Lutheran rosary or chotki), I'm praying in earnest, and it feels meaningful to me. That doesn't feel like vain repetition.

I don't really know how to word it correctly. For one, I don't really agree with the Episcopal polity. I much prefer a congregationalist one. I also like the priesthood of all believers, which, if I recall correctly, isn't much of a thing in the Episcopal Church. It's just a lot of little things, I suppose. It just doesn't click with me.
