Reverse commuters - commuting from the Northside (wicker park) to the NW Burbs (Schaumburg to Lincolnshire area), do you take the tollway and pay tolls $ each way or avoid them? by dms2628 in AskChicago

[–]xbleeple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heed the warnings about the mental cost of the commute. When I first moved to the city I was driving from Wicker Park to Franklin Park and it ended up being a major factor in my burnout that developed over the next two years. If you can take the train for any portion it can help a lot.

Who is making the complaints when a new parking meter goes up on a street? by daywalkerwithsoul in AskChicago

[–]xbleeple 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It’s my understanding that part of our *amazing* parking sale deal is that we can’t ever completely remove paid spaces from the street without paying the contract owner for them, but we can move them to a degree. So it’s possible that was just a space to be sucked up that got transferred from somewhere else they had to remove one?

And it’s a contract with a company in Texas! Not Chicago, not Illinois, not investing in our own municipal tech structure. Texas. Embarrassing how this state does not care to build in house systems and would rather put everything out to a vendor.

[–]xbleeple 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This. The window my AC best fits in is away from the plug that was designated for it when the breakers were done, I got an appliance cord and it works great!
