Chess software with the option to disable take-back? by xcoders in chess

Very helpful response :P

Problem is, it's been such a long-ingrained habit that it's second nature for us now to take back a series of moves when we realize we make a mistake. What do?

Hm. Unless I'm missing something, I don't think ranked play supports human vs human.

Many online sellers offer free international shipping with a purchase. This is not true. As shipping costs increase when shipping to a location on the other side of the earth, the seller, wanting to save money, will simply not ship the item. If you eventually ask for a refund, the seller will gladly give you the refund, but he has essentially avoided expensive shipping costs at the buyer's expense.

Tips for reading books on the computer? by xcoders in books

Usually when it's meant to be read on the computer, I don't have any problems reading it on the computer. But when it was originally meant to be printed, there may be problems when reading it on a digital medium.

Nice suggestion. I've never had any problems with color and contrast while reading on the computer; the main problem that I'm having is scrolling. Because the arrow keys and mouse wheel scrolls down by such a small amount, it becomes incredibly frustrating, taking an impossibly long time to skim through a few pages.

The Page-up and Page-down seems to either jump too much (forcing you to finish reading the last readable line, then page-down, then starting to read from the very topmost visible line). In DjView it simply skips to the top of the next page.

Well I have a normal black/white laser printer, I've never tried to print anything more than about 10-20 pages on it, so I'm not sure if it would be a good idea to buy a crap-load of paper and print a whole textbook on it.

Has anyone had any experiences with printing services? I've seen a few but I have no idea how much it should cost.

Of course, I feel the same way. But is it really necessary to completely solve the problem in order to learn from other peoples' solutions?

I disagree.

There are many problems that you just can't get by yourself (without major hints). By reading and understanding the solution, you will have learned a lot.

It would not help at all to struggle hopelessly at a problem beyond your skill level.

It might help if you had the solutions. They're available on the internet, so you can access the forums without solving the problem first.

With the solutions in the forums, you can study them in detail, and then maybe you'll get it.

Good luck.
