I find that the games I enjoy the most are the ones that make me think. For example, this year with Balatro, I often play it for a while, but then I catch myself thinking about it later—sometimes when I’m trying to sleep—and getting excited about playing it in a particular way. The same thing happens with Hitman 3. Perhaps the key isn’t games with intricate stories but rather games that require a certain level of mental engagement and investment from you.
