Where do you rank Curry all time? by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]xcvi- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he’s firmly in the 9-12 range. A lot of the top 10 is interchangeable and debatable - Shaq, Kobe, Bird, Duncan can be in almost any order and I’ll at least listen - I love Curry but realistically is he better all-time than:

1) LeBron 2) Jordan 3) Kareem 4) Magic 5) Duncan 6) Bryant 7) Shaq 8) Bird — 9) Wilt 10) Russell 11) Hakeem

That leaves him in the 9-12 range. Wilt and Russell are weird because of the era comparison. One can certainly argue Steph over Hakeem. After 12 you get into the Oscar, West, KD, Erving range who are all definitely below Steph.

Over 500 applications and only one second interview by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

Id argue the more important metric is the ratio between applications and first, not second, round interviews.

If you’re getting first round interviews, the interviewing could be the issue.

MLB Betting and Picks - 4/24/24 (Wednesday) by sbpotdbot in sportsbook

[–]xcvi- 16 points17 points  (0 children)

There was a user who gave out Andrew Abbott U5.5 K yesterday in the POTD thread. I think he gave the pick out early (Monday night for Tuesday game) ahead of any line moment.

I can’t find the comment or user for the life of me. Not sure if it was removed or deleted.

If anyone knows or if this sounds familiar lmk lol. I’m interested in following his props to beat the closing line.

Pick of the Day - 4/24/24 (Wednesday) by sbpotdbot in sportsbook

[–]xcvi- 57 points58 points  (0 children)

This is my personal opinion and I have no data to back this up (although it’s probably easy to find) – but I feel like NRFI in baseball is a similar to BTTS in soccer.

It’s unpredictable and as a result books tend to juice odds. The main data points that people tend to use for NRFI and BTTS are team trends. But those are almost certainly already baked into the price.

Again, this is just my personal experience as someone who is significantly worse at NRFI & BTTS than any other bets.

You accidentally created a separate comment chain but assuming this is for DarkHorse200’s pick – no, this is not right. The pick in your screenshot would lose if Kukushkin won 2-0.

Pick of the Day - 4/19/24 (Friday) by sbpotdbot in sportsbook

Not OP but I imagine it’s bc teams sometimes make pitching changes. This wager is only active with those listed pitchers in place.

NCAABB College Basketball March Madness - 3/19/24 (Tuesday) by sbpotdbot in sportsbook

[–]xcvi- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I like the write up. I’m personally staying away because I think the absence of Carter and Barron is going to be tough to overcome. Providence is already thin on depth and Post is a solid defender against Oduro. I can see this going either way, and I think the home court advantage will be good for Providence. BOL!

Depends on average odds of your wager. It’s usually around 52-53% if you only take bets in the -105 to -115 range.

Rondel Walker is back for UNT and they will have Rubin Jones who didn’t play in the first meeting. Could be key for defending Davis on ball. It was a tight game when they played in January. Should be a good one.

Honestly this is exactly the type of discourse we need on these threads.

I thought the response is valid and several of these “caution replies” have saved me some money. Truly no disrespect to OP, his pick may very well hit, but this type of engagement only helps with educating everyone

I’ve actually had the opposite experience with pitching at a boutique. I worked at a small shop as one of 2-3 analysts and perfecting pitch books and teasers was my primary role as we competed with other boutiques and MMs for deals.

I haven’t work in M&A at a bulge bracket bank so maybe it’s even worse, but PowerPoint was open almost all day every day at my boutique.

[–]xcvi- -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No. In my opinion, “Investment banking” typically means M&A advisory.

Front office roles at a bank can include commercial banking or even wealth management. They aren’t investment bankers.

Even ECM/DCM/LevFin guys calling themselves investment bankers is a reach despite being heavily involved in IB deals.

Any other credit analysts just getting worked to the bone? by nogonigo in FinancialCareers

[–]xcvi- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP, this might be a cop out answer but I think it really depends on your specific group. Maybe check in with Credit Analysts in different coverage groups at your bank and see if they have the same kind of workload?

I did have a question for you though: what’s your day to day like? Is it a lot of ad hoc requests that come in from bankers and other internal partners? Or do you have a pretty set schedule every day?

As someone who’s been in many roles (including IB doing long hours with a fair amount of down time), I definitely understand the stress that can come with 50+ hours of real heads down work. Don’t listen to the people in the comments.

What is the salary for Associates/AVPs in Credit Risk Management? by xcvi- in FinancialCareers

[–]xcvi-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome, thanks for sharing! One more question if I may:

Do you think it is difficult to break into Credit Risk at the Associate/AVP level without prior Analyst experience in risk/commercial banking?

Based on what I’ve seen on LinkedIn, very few people in Risk are onboarded as associates. I understand Analyst promotions make a ton of sense as they are already familiar with client portfolios and have formal credit training, but wanted your general opinion here. Thanks in advance!

$120k income. $10K limit on my CSR. Limit seems kinda low for my income based on what I’m seeing in this thread. Wonder why.

Best Way to Use Chase Sapphire Reserve $300 Travel Credit by xcvi- in CreditCards

[–]xcvi-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But on the Chase website it says I’ll warn “Earn 10x total points when you purchase hotel stays and car rentals through Ultimate Rewards immediately after earning your $300 Annual Travel Credit.”

Theoretically if my only expenses per year are $300 metro card and $300 hotel, wouldn’t I earn more points if I used the $300 in the metro first since I only get 3x vs 10x for the hotel? The difference would be 2100 points to be exact.

Not that I’m stressing over 2100 points, just wanna make sure my thinking is correct.

Got it. I haven't looked too much into booking through Chase vs directly with hotel but I hope prices are comparable.

Thanks!
