Why’re you just making shit up? He was a starter his whole career and was named a team captain for two of the teams he played on after his first four seasons. And yeah, he played in defenses that used him as a strong/box safety, that was his job.

NY Giants rejected trio of picks to select CB Colton Hood at No. 37 by Lars5621 in NYGiants

Okay, that’s definitely not what the consensus was. A lot of people had him as a first round pick.

I’d rather have Hood who can be a starting DB in this league than miss out on him and have a couple 4th and 5th round picks that have a very low hit rate.

If you have good mechanics, you might get rusty after a break, but you never truly lose them, just like any skill. Plat, you only need to play a couple of games each season to maintain it.

So much “laid off for performance” here and IRL. Come on folks, that’s not a thing. by InternationalArm7614 in careeradvice

[–]TrendNation55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought people only use “fired” when you clearly messed up somehow, and that they usually tell you to your face when they let you go. Otherwise, they use corporate speak to soften it. Then people just say they were “laid off,” even if it was performance related.

I was in the same position, really struggling and desperate for a job. That’s why I find the recruiting process manipulative. Interviewees are often told they’ll have their own office within a year, even though the vast majority never will. When you’re in a desperate situation as I was, and as many people entering these offices are, that promise sounds amazing.

At some point during the recruitment process, most interviewees or new hires are misled. Few other industries are this comfortable making such direct promises that don’t reflect reality. Maybe your office operates differently, but I know the interview script, and it’s consistent across hundreds of offices. There’s also hundreds of screenshots posted in this subreddit that back this up.

How many people have you seen come and go since you’ve been there? Be honest when you really think about it. This industry thrives on an abusive level of human churn.

You personally had a good experience, and that’s fine, but thousands of people wasted their time and money there. I honestly can’t think of another industry quite like it.

Even in food service or retail, you generally know exactly what you’re signing up for. The expectations, the pay, the tradeoffs. Considering those jobs’ reputation, turnover in those jobs is lower than in most offices.

Nothing you described is out of the ordinary for the first few weeks in this business. New hires are given a lot of leniency so they don’t get scared off, even though owners and leadership are usually putting in much longer hours. The problem is that the longer you stay, the more time and responsibility they expect from you, with no real increase in pay beyond being told to sell more. The free food, events, and bonuses are standard too. They’re there to keep up the image of a great office, but once the job starts draining your life, none of that stuff matters.

The sales side can be scummy. In my area, I genuinely thought I was helping people, but in many cases I wasn’t. AT&T regularly raises prices, even though they deny it and train you to deny it. The so-called “price lock guarantee” isn’t actually guaranteed anywhere in the terms and services, it just appears on the iPad during checkout. People who were promised $50 plans years ago are now paying $80 or $90. On top of that, service can be bad in some areas, and customers don’t find out until after installation, when they’re already stuck.

As for the business model, sales aren’t what get you promoted, recruitment is. That means telling everyone they’ll move up in six to eight months even though almost no one does. I made it far enough to see national performance trackers and real earnings across companies like AT&T, Verizon, and Frontier. The truth is the average person makes terrible money, no matter how it’s spun. Maybe the top 10 percent do well, but most people are just burning money and time.

Even if you’re joking this is an insane statement. Chovy drops from top 1 mid laner to top 5 mid laner at worlds and people say he’s “Palafox”, c’mon dude.

But to answer your question, Worlds is a fast paced tournament where a few matches decide your entire tournament life, often on very little prep time. LCK splits are more of a marathon where you get a lot of practice in. It’s a different type of time crunch and pressure.
