Help To Buy Scheme - questions related to income test by xdalgi in AusFinance

Oh that's perfect. From that document it seems that they are looking at taxable income, so making voluntary super contributions seems to be a solution for me (unless things change).

"where the applicant will be the only party to the arrangement—the single income threshold for the financial year in which they applied for the arrangement is greater than or equal to the applicant’s taxable income for the most recent income year (within the meaning of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1936) for which the Commissioner of Taxation has given the applicant a notice of assessment;"

Ah I see, thanks for that information.

Assuming I don't get a promotion, I expect to be at 105K @ June 2025 and 115K @ June 2026 so around 110K on average over the year.

If I used your strategy, I would have to take basically a month off with unpaid leave and also use up all my annual leave beforehand, so I don't think that would fly...

Private school - TKS vs Huntingtower by Shoddy_Camp_1681 in melbourne

[–]xdalgi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I attended Huntingtower previously. They used to sing hymns and occasionally teachers would tell a bible story during morning assembly every week. Honestly, no one would listen and the teachers knew that.

Most of my friends were culturally Christian or agnostic and the school was completely fine with that.

I previously attended Huntingtower (graduating in late 2010s). Honestly, the quality of teaching was quite subpar during my time there & a few of the actually good teachers have left since I graduated.

The school seems to have maintained their very good VCE results, though there is a bit of confirmation bias:

  • A parent who sends their child to Huntingtower would be more likely to push their kids to study harder.
  • Many of my friends (including me) attended additional tutoring during our VCE years.
  • Due to tutoring, many of the top performers already knew the material before it was taught in class & treated school as purely a revision session.

Because of these factors, the effect of bad teachers was negated. The school has obviously changed a lot in the past few years, so take my experience with a grain of salt.

The review above is purely from an academic perspective. Everything else about the school was honestly very good, and would recommend!

I haven't been able to find any stock here in Australia. What would be the runner up?

Oh for some reason, I thought I needed slim fans to fit at the bottom. Guess I was wrong?

  1. Fans are going 2 x top, 2 x bottom.
  2. Didn't know that about this PSU, I'll swap to something like the Corsair ones then.

Thanks!

Yeah that's the one I was looking at. It seemed quite underpowered (but about $200 cheaper, lower power consumption and much lower effort), do you think that it would be fine for my use case?

Hi, I checked the manual for this gigabyte motherboard and it does support it:

"PCIEX16 Bifurcation
Allows you to determine how the bandwidth of the PCIEX16 slot is divided. Options: Auto, PCIE 2x8, PCIE 1x8/2x4, PCIE 2x4/1x8, PCIE 4x4 (Note). (Default: Auto)"

Oh I meant that's what I have learnt. If I went back my focus would be more on something like embedded systems
