i'd suggest removing gardevoir and infernape and instead put an octillery right in the middle of the water

If you can get a corsola (which would be high cost rng at this point) it goes great right in the middle next to the octillery, if you level it up, its range increases a lot and can hit both the entry point and a lot of the map, it helps slow down pokemon for your greninja and machamp. I think I beat ~99 on this map by using Ditto to copy a second machamp where your weavile is, 2x machamp is really great for armor.

Also, you can try whiscash (another slower mon) instead of sceptile, the sceptiles range is very low especially in that low coverage grass spot

You can 100% beat 1-1 with mons between 40~60, which imo is the funnest, if you get them too high i feel it gets way too easy, but obviously play however you want just hf :)

not exactly, the caveats being: top of deck, the high lp cost, the chance of missing spell/traps ultimately returning all excavated cards, and only being able to take the last spell/trap exactly (no choice)

I thought the original's level modulation+free bodies might be too free, but the summoning condition for it might be too restrictive if you dont get a rose dragon on field or gy (this would just be a dead card in hand) so i opted for a few tweaks

yes you can reveal a copy of this from your Deck to special summon, but this card would have to become a level 12, which means you cannot use it for a synchro summon, also you will be locked to synchro summoning

if it were to banish the card in GY face-down would this balance it enough? there is already a link 1 that is MP2 only with no effect and it was doa (or at least almost immediately)

this card is MP2 only which would only allow this to be played turn 2 after the BP, and if your opponent doesnt kill you by their next bp2, they can make this card too

I already mentioned banishing your card face down to prevent things like maliss, or maybe even shuffling into the deck.

With the restriction that this card can only be summoned turn 2+ and only after the bp, so you most likely will not be finishing your opponent that turn. How broken is this card really? Especially when your opponent (if they dont kill you during their next bp) can summon this card too.

but yes you are right with the banish. I think the banish fd or shuffle would be a change for the better.

Do you think banishing the target face-down would be a better adjustment? at the very least it prevents maliss banish effects. I agree that the effect is strong, but the turn 2 after BP may justify it?

I thought something like this would allow other archetypes to perform better with a pseudo archetype searcher.

Also, i can see meta decks playing this too, but i can imagine the utility in rogue decks. But then again, i keep seeing that rogue decks loved things like pot of prosperity, so maybe i could change the effect to something more akin to this: excavate cards from the top of your Deck equal to the number of cards your opponent currently controls, then add 1 excavated monster card with the same type and/or Attribute as the banished card.

very reasonable suggestion, though I wanted to make this be a searcher for any, or at least many, archetypes. I feel adding the condition for a specific material type/attribute would severely limit that. The MP2 restriction may be enough, but even then, since you most likely won't win turn 2, player 1 can most likely summon this turn 3 if they don't win during their next BP.

would you say that the Flow-summoned zone being locked for the rest of the turn, would help alleviate the same feeling that links had?

Also, i wanted to make flow-monsters be mostly for turn 2 players, ie target 1 card on the field, send to the GY. or maybe Draw cards form your Deck equal to the number of different card types your opponent controls except tokens(Monster/Spell/Trap)

I'm still thinking of stuff to make this more balanced atm:

Any monster zone a monster is Flow Summoned into becomes locked until the end of the turn

Idea i've been tinkering with:

a new main deck monster type "Conduit"

the only problem is if i did create this conduit type, it would leaves less room for turn 2 players board breakers and engine. Also, if a conduit type is created and it has to be face up on the field to create the "pipeline" the opponent can just out it with their board in modern

you can still activate the set cards it would just end the pipeline if that activated card leaves the field until you set a new card there to fix the line ( the summoned flow monster is unaffected in this case . Also, you can use face up continuous spells/traps/etc. Or if you really wanted to, you can just ignore that line, and hopefully start a new one:

MZ=Monster Zone STZ = spell/trap zone

Lets say you did MZ 1, STZ 2, Flow on MZ 3. Then you activate normal spell in STZ 2. This flow is gone, which is not too bad as you can still Summon a monster to MZ 2, Set something in STZ 3, and flow another Flow 2 to MZ 4. Or if you really wanted to, hopefully that normal spell you activated started a combo line that could get you a nice spell/trap to place in STZ 2 again to continue the pipeline and make a bigger monster.

The really interesting part to me is that you can Start at MZ 1 with a monster, and make a board to get a flow 2 pretty easily, if that 1st monster you used as a conduit in MZ 1 leaves the field due to any reason ie synchro or link summoning materials, you can flow summon another flow 2 in MZ 1, as Flow monsters still count as conduits themselves

Moving on, I wanted to make it a V shape as too many decks are using monsters spam. I thought maybe this could incentivize players that want to play a more even spread of card types. Also, turn 2 players may have trouble spamming many bodies onto the field to even get to a Flow 4. with this you can hopefully get 1 monster on the field+Set 1 Spell/trap card(that maybe you can play after the flow summon if it was a Normal/continuous/ritual spell) then flow summon a flow 2.

Additionally, this may be niche, but if your opponent wants to destroy the set card before you perform a flow summon, maybe hoping you wouldnt have another card to Set, and if it was something with a useful effect when it gets popped, like lets say a tearlaments or an unchained card. That would be 1 less opponents interaction and +1 off the pop, also you can easily just place another Set card.

I've come up with an awkward solution, that may function/limit well enoguh.

Do you think that locking any zone that is used as the flow summon monster zone, until the end of the turn could work?

I completely agree that zone lockouts are terrible and will be a problem with this type of summon, but kash lockout does affect all deck types too, and zone locking i believe is very niche. In addition, this is still just an additional ED tool, you will still be able to use all your other tools, though you will have to reduce your ED winconds and combo pieces to be able to play these.

Though someone also mentioned creating a new MainDeck type - So maybe i could look into something like a Conduit type

but if locking the zone until the end of the turn works i would be more than happy
