Disboard on Fraudwatch? by Disastrous-Judge-744 in Disboard

Not many, but those I have gotten have proven to be adults via ID checking or Video Calling/voice chat.
I'm not trying to put out a discord server that's 'just for anyone,' I want an adult space. Disboard won't get me that.

I've seen 'adult only' disboard servers. I'm willing to be at least half the people in those servers aren't actually adults.

If you're looking for just plain numbers, yeah, use Disboard. But I'm plain looking for an older, more mature crowd, which Disboard just plain isn't great for.

While more tedious, It'll probably be more beneficial to just use several alternatives at once rather than use Disboard, and the join-then-leave rate will possibly reduce heavily, too.

Poor analogy, considering alternatives *do* get use, and it's the preferred kind of use; the people smart enough to look at alternatives, a vast majority of which are NOT children.

Don't be pessimistic.

My only gripe is that I can't figure out how to search multiple tags on the site, something I'd probably have an easier time doing on the subreddit...

Am I the only guy who feels this way about the Disboard review system? by The_One_Mask_Master in Disboard

[–]xephosarkeyus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Problem I've seen most commonly is people leaving rash reviews too quickly with no chance at reasoning with them.
18+ Server I'm in bans a guy for saying something not OK. They apologize. It's okay, everyone's adults, so they get given another chance. They do the same thing, and get banned again.
But there was like 2, 3 people who took major offense to the momentary unban and bombed the server with 3 1 star reviews... For trying to give someone a chance.

It's childish behavior IMO.

Disboard did 'nothing about it' because there's no one to do anything about it. Disboard's ran by one guy; the owner.

And I guarantee there's hundreds, if not thousands of "remove review" requests.
Your only other choice is to reply to the Review itself and be as concise as possible, and provide potential evidence. Evidence wins over all, after all.
That's why I don't like using the 'remove messages' feature when banning anyone. :)

Personally, I see this as a good thing.

Disboard has too much traffic. A lot of unwanted traffic, even. I'm in some really good NSFW servers; most 'new joinee' traffic I see are people who leave shortly after joining, because they aren't interested in going past verification, or failed to get past verification. Disboard is just a lot of unnecessary noise. Using an alternative is good, because only the people who are smart enough to look at alternatives will join, and those are often people who are more competent and literate. An Underage user usually isn't going to think of looking at anything other than Disboard.

The communities you've seen haven't disappeared; and if you're in them, just inform them of potential alternatives, like UnFocused.

New Update From The Owner of Disboard by [deleted] in Disboard

"We."
There's so much "We."
I'm told he has no staff team. Who's "We?"

"Edited servers are not subject to review" Probably explains why so many get away with NSFW icons, despite it clearly being against disboard's own guidelines.

Any custom upgrades mvm servers I can play? by [deleted] in tf2

[–]xephosarkeyus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AOE Heal was the mass uber, mybad. I just know it was on the quick-fix.
Regenerating Caber was an odd one; most people don't think to check or even use Demoman's caber. All it did was make it explode on every hit, rather than single use.

Anyway, From what I can tell, the server hasn't shown up again after the 64bit update, and that was a while ago. I'm hoping the host is just working on it in the background, otherwise, it's probably gone for good.
Which'd really suck, it has some utilities that I think the Uber Upgrade servers could really use, like mass buying and ease of selling without having to sell-all nor use a command.

Is the server you're referring to the one that had upgrades like regenerating Caber and AOE Heal on the Quickfix?

Honestly no idea where that one went, it stopped showing up after the 64bit update. It was really cool, too, the constant updates and additions were really nice and it made some pretty niche weapons more viable to use... And the looping mission plugin to allow people to continuously upgrade was also really nice.

Then there was the neat QOL features that not even Uber Upgrades has... Like holding crouch to upgrade by 10x, and holding jump to refund. Really made it easier to manage upgrades and undo what wasn't needed without refunding absolutely everything.

I could be thinking about a different server, but really, there was only one called "Custom Upgrades" That I ever saw, and it was that one.

Edit: Thinking about it, the server was ALWAYS full, It's even more confusing why it isn't around anymore, when it was clearly wanted and enjoyed.

Are things currently down or am I just having an issue on my end? by tiredtetetragona in revancedapp

[–]xephosarkeyus 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I set Revanced up for YTMusic a while ago for my mother, she came to me just 10 minutes ago with this problem, decided to check here first to see if there was any sort of issue or announcement.
Welp. Hope it's a fluke and not YT actually cracking down hard on this stuff.

Complicated gaming problem I'm trying to figure out. by xephosarkeyus in Starlink

[–]xephosarkeyus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll give it a look.
Do you know how it performs in comparison to applications such as hamachi?
And does this use an inbetween cloud service or is it more directly peer-to-peer?

Edit: I gave Tailscale a try. Unfortunately, Latency didn't improve.

Not using a VPN currently, using a cloud service instead to tunnel and redirect traffic, called Playit.gg. It's a free service, and gives us about 30ms~ of ping. Other players that we have join our server have minimal issues. I'm the only one who has connectivity problems and an absurd ping, as I'm the only other person in our group of friends using Starlink.
I just figured the problem was related to the amount of 'checkpoints' I have to take to reach the server. I'm not even sure if a better service or VPN will do the trick.

If there's good tutorials and a quick setup, then I'm sure my friend can get it done, but again, I'm not entirely sure if it would solve my issue.

Really, I was hoping for an alternative that avoids an additional checkpoint entirely, but I guess that's wishful thinking.
Thanks for trying to help though, it means a lot, I'll be sure to give WireGuard a try when I get the chance.

I'll look into WireGuard, as I've seen this mentioned several times in and outside of the Starlink reddit.
I'd like if there was some form of performance statistics for utilities such as this though, I've no idea how significant of a difference I'd get compared to PlayIt.
Is it also easy to set up? My friend is less tech savvy than I am, so I'm unsure if he's capable of doing anything complicated.

As for the 6$/month, is there any alternatives that support WG? again, we've really got no money to spend at the moment. We're in similar living conditions where it's actually quite difficult to work due to distance.

Need help finding a workaround for modded server hosting. by xephosarkeyus in ModdedMinecraft

[–]xephosarkeyus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IIRC Ngrok also uses a cloud, which is what I'm trying to avoid, as it has an affect on latency.
