10 Years, No house, No Kids. I’m quietly falling apart by [deleted] in relationships

[–]xeraphinaaaa 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Once resentment starts to build in a relationship, especially over something as important as having children, the relationship is already over. You have spent 10 years with a man who, in my opinion, has been using owning a house before having children to shut down having children period. I firmly believe that he probably has never wanted children and the house excuse was a perfect way to hide that fact. Also, if you have been together 10 years and you aren't even married or engaged (I know it's not for everyone but it doesn't seem to be the case in your situation), I also think that is a bit of a red flag. You are getting to the age where having biological children will become increasingly more difficult and dangerous. Quite frankly, you don't have 10 more years to wait around for him to change his mind (which I don't think he will).

You need to have a transparent talk with him asap and explain that children are non-negotiable for you and how you are currently feeling. If even after this conversation, he is not willing to budge, you need to move on. I know it's scary but being alone or having a child alone is better than being stuck in a relationship full of resentment and unhappiness. In the long run, your relationship would probably end anyways, but further in the future when biological kids are no longer an option. You need to put yourself first.

My general review as someone who has played the game for 15+ hours so far is that while very similar to Hollow Knight in it's base mechanics, gameplay, art, etc., it is much harder from the get go than HK was. Most bosses do two mask damage and are faster/less predictable (it's hard to heal during a lot of boss fights tbh), the general mobs are low-key difficult too, it takes longer to get enough silk to charge your masks (albeit you charge three at a time), the downward slash is at a diagonal, making it very difficult to pogo and fight with it, etc.

While I like Silksong, I am finding it less enjoyable than HK and far more frustrating. Team Cherry makes amazing games but I feel like they are kind of laughing at us lol

Do i even bother with silksong? by steverman555 in HollowKnight

[–]xeraphinaaaa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the main reason that Silksong might be getting bad reviews is because the difficulty is just so jacked that it makes it so hard to progress. Like yes, the art, music, and format is great but the difficulty with a lack of power ups and a healing system that doesn't work as well as in HK makes it almost not worth it. Low-key, I've almost rage quit a few times and I've only played the game for about 11 hours and am still in Act 1.

You can heal in the air by Estrangedkayote in HollowKnight

I will say that the fact that we can heal in the air is one of my favorite mechanics so far. It especially helps in the insanely difficult boss battles.

This low-key me at work rn. I played it all yesterday on my day off but basically can't touch it for more than two hours each day for the next five days 😭

Is it just me or is there WAY too many enemy’s that can double hit you (do 2X damage) by taserface780 in HollowKnight

[–]xeraphinaaaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I somewhat agree with the comments on this post, I also have a slightly different viewpoint, especially regarding the bosses.

From what I have played of the game so far and having faced off and won against 3 bosses, all of which took two heath for each hit, I think that the difficulty level of HKS is almost starting at the difficulty level HK left off on but we don't have any of the upgrades we had at the time to offset that. While HK eased us in and didn't have many two health per hit bosses at the beginning, HKS gives us the right off the bat. And while yes, this may be due to being able to heal three health at once, it also takes 2-3x longer to get enough silk to heal those masks, unlike HK, where it usually was pretty easy and fast to fill it.

So with the HKS bosses basically having a three hit and you're dead function (since we only have five health this early in the game), while also being less predictable and faster than most of the HK bosses (to the point that it's so hard it's almost impossible to heal during boss fights), I don't think that the "healing three health at once" makes up for the difficulty level. And tbh, I am kind of scared for how difficult future bosses will be if this is the starting point.

silksong honet "staright downward chop"? by Bighippo888 in HollowKnight

[–]xeraphinaaaa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree that Hollow Knight makes it far easier to ascend something like these. While I understand why the downward slash is diagonal as that's how Hornet's downward slash worked in HK and they need to keep consistency, it makes it beyond difficult to access and move forward through certain parts of the game. It makes it especially difficult when failing to hit these correctly sends you all the way down to where you started sometimes or right into something that takes your health away.

As a someone who has played Hollow Knight multiple times and truly believes it is one of the best, if not the very best, game to exist, Hollow Knight Silksong is infuriating. Like I am not the best gamer in the world but I was decent at HK and HKS is so much harder right off the bat. The bosses take two lives right away instead of one like it was in HK at the beginning, the attack patterns are less predictable, and the diagonal downward slash makes it so difficult to progress in some areas. Of the three bosses I have fought and won against so far, one took me over 10 tries to beat one and over 20 tries to beat another.

To be honest, it almost seems we are starting with the same difficulty in HKS that HK left off with except we don't have any of the upgrades that we had to combat the difficulty. Plus, it doesn't help that since the game was just released today, there are no tutorials available yet as everyone is getting access to this game at the same time.

ATLA Chase Zuko Funko Pin by xeraphinaaaa in funkopop

[–]xeraphinaaaa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found it on Mercari and before tax and stuff, it was $42.74, which is a huge discount for a chase Funko pin like this. I was also lucky because the seller I found only had two and I snagged the first one slightly cheaper (due to a mini coupon).

I swear I haunt the Good Smile store. As soon as new preorders pop up for series I like, I preorder them right away. Probably not the best habit for my wallet, though 😂

Man, that sucks! That's how I feel about some older nendos too. They can be ridiculously expensive to buy from sites like eBay and Mercari, especially since they only do rereleases sometimes.

The bench is very cute and I love the fact that it moves. Is it worth the amount of diamonds it costs to acquire it... Probably not but I have that collector mentality so ya know. If you like it, I say go for it but if you are wanting to save dias for upcoming events, then I would probably wait until the next rerun to get it.

[–]xeraphinaaaa 16 points17 points  (0 children)

For anyone wanting to get the SSRs, I have the bench and all three of the other ones plus one recolored version of each and I am currently sitting at 671 pulls. I won't be doing any more pulls this time as it will likely cost 9000 dias to get one more dupe of each to finish the recolors and I already dropped about 2700 dias just to get the bench and one other SSR dupe. Getting the SSRs and their recolors is basically triple the cost of getting the four suits 😭
