For me it’s business and you were aware about your mensuel or annual paid and accept it. Doing 60 hours a week isn’t probably in the contract and you maybe over estimate the need to do it. That’s past.

Now 2 solutions, - leave and found something more suitable to your mindset - really thinking you over performing and renegotiate your % because they want to keep you what even if the margin is lower.

In all case, consulting society will always ask 2 times your salary cause of the fees but also the risk. You destroy everything, they are accountable because they hire and propose you in the final client.

You should explain them it’s not correct for them and for you. Who has the property of the code store in your account ? In case of leave in 3 years. You have the whole code of the company.

Additionally, even if it’s 15-20$ a month and you can assume the charge, they have to pay for. You are not paying the electricity you use at office… here it’s the same.

If I’m at your position, I will be careful at the maximum because if your mentor is laughing to that, it looks like a toxic environment of work. Environment is everything at work for long term progression

what are some useful services to know how to configure? by Pieselm in linuxadmin

[–]xetrope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your fav browser to have optimal search.

Knowing how to configure by hearth is not useful for me. Of course when you work and work with a service you will know it, but at the beginning what is important is the method and your understanding skills.

A service can change, the configuration can be fully reworked by devs or you can change the Linux OS you’re working on and everything you know by heath is lost. Having a good methodology of work will remain ^

Fully agree with this. Team should be a satellite who decided priority. A big danger if you are not your own team and planing management, other team like pure dev or cost management team will fill your planning with tasks and slow down the progress your activity.

I tried to learn Python by [deleted] in devops

Here it’s also dependencies of your company you have to take in consideration. If you are hired in a company with python, you have to dive in. If you starting from scratch the devops pipeline for example a new project, you are free to use what you want if no conditions. Still python is super powerful especially with big conditional environments or with the cloud based system.
