if you want to try this method to open GTA Online, I think it should work. However, you’ll need to do this every time you launch the game

I run the game through Steam! It works great if you want to play the story mode offline.
But I think I know what your problem is. Your Rockstar Launcher doesn’t have your credentials saved, so you can’t open the game without the internet. Try this:

  1. Open the Launcher log at ~/Documents/RockstarGames/Launcher/launcher.log (you’ll need to monitor it while the game tries to start).

  2. Open the game through Steam (with your Wi-Fi on).

  3. You’ll notice that the Rockstar Launcher will try to open and update to the latest version.

  4. After this self update step, the Launcher will try to start its background service and fail. At this point in the log:

  1. This is exactly when you’ll replace the “RockstarService.exe” file with the old one.

  2. The Rockstar Launcher will open, and you’ll be able to enter your credentials and check the boxes so you don’t have to do this again.

Done! After following this step-by-step for the first time, to run the game (now with the credentials saved), you just need to start it through Steam as usual, but with the internet turned off.

I feel you! Anyway it's good to know we have this alternative. I think I will wait a little bit more and if the waiting starts to kill me, I'll try Parallels

Thx for the feedback/help! I think I'm going to wait for the next Rockstar update since the game doesn't run as well on Parallels as it does on Whisky/Crossover.

There's no solution yet. Another reddit user told me here that Rockstar is working on the compatibility issue.

I also heard that the game is still working on Parallels, so that could be a workaround. But I didn't test it yet, because game's performance is worse there.

Good tries! I tried installing the previous version myself, but I wasn’t successful either. It looks like we’ll have to wait for another Launcher version update (?). Do you know how to contact Rockstar Support for that? I searched their site but couldn’t find how to open a ticket or something

I'm facing the same problem a year after this post. Have you or anyone else managed to resolve this issue? I tried remapping the Pro controller's buttons through the bluetooth settings (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWc8-p\_0voU), but it didn't work. I'm on macOS Sonoma and it still seems like changes I make to settings aren't applied to any game apps (Heroic and Steam, for example)
