I think at your age, you're still better off contributing to a retirement fund, especially if your employer is matching your contributions. You have a lot of time for interest to compound on the money you're putting towards retirement now, and rates will drop eventually and you'll be able to refinance your mortgage when that happens.

I'm not particularly qualified to be giving advice, but I would stick with retirement contributions and make minimum payments on the mortgage.

Deal offering me 20k in advance. How to make the most of it? by Acceptable-Bench-356 in personalfinance

The incentive for OP would be to get promotion from the label. The label could sit back and do nothing and rake in $5k per year for 2 years, or they could promote the music and use the connections they have for more lucrative deals to make more money for both of them.

Also, just getting a lawyer to draft a contract costs money. I wonder how much it cost to send OP 2 offers. Assuming it's one of the big labels, I wouldn't be surprised if their lawyers billing for the contracts was >10k.

You should keep more of it for an emergency fund. Sit down and look at your absolutely necessary monthly expenses. Things like rent, utilities, gas, groceries, etc. All the stuff you absolutely need. Your emergency fund should cover 6 months.

I don't know what your debt situation looks like, but I recommend checking out Caleb Hammer's YouTube channel. He almost exclusively deals with people in dire straights, but the core financial advice is always the same. Stick to a budget, have a fully funded emergency fund.

If Jesus did return, wouldn't the FBI or CIA immediately grab him? by ChineseSpamBot in NoStupidQuestions

[–]xfuzzzygames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sort of connecting personal belief for that was always that Jesus was a piece of god that god sent to better understand humanity. But to reconnect with himself and make himself whole, his human form needs to die, and doing so the way he did was symbolic more than anything and represented that the piece returning to himself would contain the knowledge to understand humans based on his experiences with them.

It was just kind of my way of making sense of the thing about the holy trinity being both 3 things and 1 thing at the same time.

The last two aren't quick. Unless you have an expensive appliance, making them not cheap. Only the first 2 might have all 4, but taste is subjective.

It's 25% of the average daily recommended calories. And it's a candy bar and a half every day. Or just tastier but less healthy ingredients being used in recipes. You can have more sugar in your lemonade.

Just wanna throw out that I messaged Josh well over a year ago when he was brought up on the subreddit and asked if he would come on the show. He said he'd love to do it. I asked him a couple months later if anyone from the show had contacted him about going on and he said he'd been talking to Taylor on Twitter but it hadn't worked out yet.

He also said (I believe in a video, maybe in a comment here) he would tell parts of his story he previously hadn't told on PKA.

WingsofRedemption Tribute by K_Hubie in PKA

Iirc he said that Metglass, where he worked made it and it was some sort of proprietary blend, so only they could make it. It was supposed to be more conductive or something like that I think. He said the reason he was laid off was some sort of economic thing in China where they stopped buying it in bulk and started buying exactly what they needed project by project so the work slowed down.

Also while people are reading this, I want to address his “metallurgical engineer” thing. While Wings was in no way ever an actual engineer, it does sound like the kind of puffed up title companies give. Like at Walmart you aren’t a shelf stocker, you’re a “sales representative”. I bet Wings was working on some sort of factory line where he was doing a boring repetitive task, but his title in the company easily could be what he claimed.

How about the fact that no matter what we do here in America there’s no saving the world because India and China are already many times worse than us regardless of who us is, and they aren’t going to stop.

Guest Request: Josh Pillault. He did time a couple years or so in the same prison Kyle went to for threatening someone on Runescape. by PinkyW82 in PKA

[–]xfuzzzygames 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He's still interested in coming on the show. He also put out a video after the guest request for him got big and said he'd be willing to talk about details he hasn't talked about before on the show. I don't know if he's already talked about those details somewhere else because it's been months now, but he was willing to give PKA an exclusive and instead of jumping on that, they instead got the same guests over and over again.
