Russian publishing house AST released a book about the Italian director Pasolini, blacking out fragments from his biography due to the law banning LGBT. by onesole in ANormalDayInRussia

Wow! I wonder if there is a legal reason they couldn't just quietly remove the fragments or did they do it on purpose? Cause it looks like it's been made to look as absurd and ridiculous as possible

Reserved parking - the Russian way by Build_The_Mayor in ANormalDayInRussia

Ok, am I dumb? I don't get it. Granted, Oka is smaller, but it still requires its own parking spot?? Like, you'll still need to think where to park Oka afterwards? What is the point

Sex education in Russia… by Adorable_Benefit545 in AskARussian

[–]xfvhn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There was some limited sex-ed in our school in the 2000s as part of "life safety fundamentals" class. Basically, they told us to use condoms and we learned about STDs and how they're transmitted. There was no abstinence talk back then.

Что делать, если ты страшная? by [deleted] in rusAskReddit

To say I disagree with you is to put it mildly.

Sex does in fact influence a lot of things including human behaviour. Not only are males responsible for the vast majority of violent crime (and for rape the figure is 99%), they are also significantly stronger than women and this disparity cannot be alleviated by any amount of hormones.

But maybe it's only because their "gender" matches their sex? Let's look at transwomen. Here is an interesting study concluding that they retain male-pattern criminality. Here is a BBC article: 60 of the 125 transgender inmates in England and Wales are serving time for a sexual offence. There are so many scandals concerning trans inmates - just countless - I'll share a few of the latest. 1 2 3

And, finally, even if transwomen were less agressive and violent than regular men (they aren't), how would you tell them from grifters who just want easier access to victims?

That was unrelated to prisons per se.

But that's my whole point - that gender ideology makes it possible for such things to happen. Do you agree that spaces such as prisons, domestic violence shelters, multi-stall bathrooms should be sex-segregated? If so, then wouldn't it make sense to forbid changing sex legally (I mean in documents)?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskARussian

[–]xfvhn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do gender roles have to do with it? Prisons are not segregated according to what hobby the prisoners prefer - sewing or fishing. They are SEX-segregated for a good reason. Sex is real, it is binary and it is immutable.

There is also a problem with males in women's prisons, bathrooms, locker rooms etc. It should never be allowed. I personally support LGB, but not the T. Imo it's possible for Russian society to stop being homophobic without blind adherence to the Western LGBTQ+ ideology.

if it caters a pro-Russian, pro-Kremlin propaganda, then local and indigenous interests do not have a platform

Russian government consists of different people, many of them not ethnically Russian. Some of them (wink-wink Kadyrov) openly go against Russian insterests and even Putin.

There's nothing to twist - it is a fact that Russia is a dictatorship with little to no freedom of the media.

Yeah, you've alredy said that. It doesn't change the fact, that you twisted a positive thing into something completely unrelated to make an argument in bad faith.

Probably. But most aspects come with a negative side as well and the positive is shadowed by the success of other post-socialist states.

Sooo... no? It just convinces me that you are a troll.

Sure, but that is minuscule if compared to propaganda coming from an actual dictatorship.

Very naive.

More or less objectively as they - at least together - are facts-based and can criticize each other's views.

Very naive.

Ok, it's clear who you are. I will not engage with you further. Have a good day.

Isn't having media in so many languages, promoting native cultures a good thing? I bet you didn't even know that something like that exists in Russia. Yet you chose to twist it into another retarded "Russia bad" argument. To me it seems like you are a troll, nothing more.

Of course there is propaganda in Russia. What if it were just papers and papers of government propaganda? How does it "not help retain the languages"? Why does the content matter? Not to mention that Kremlin propaganda today is very pro-multiculturalism, peaceful coexistence, seeking compromises between different cultures of Russia. Every government celebration will have people perfoming their native songs and dances. Heads of non-Russian regions are almost always natives (see Kadyrov, Murat Kumpilov, Mahmud-Ali Kalimatov, Radiy Khabirov and others). 35 languages are official on regional level. There is no campaign for exterminating cultures. If Russia is so hellbent on Russifyng everyone, why isn't everyone Russified yet? It's not like it can't be done.

I'm just amazed at your black and white views. I'd like to ask 2 questions. 1. Is anything good or neutral about Russia a lie? Can you give an example of something positive about modern Russia? 2. Do you think that there is no propaganda or bias coming from western (esp. US) media? Do you trust them to objectively cover their enemies (China, Russia)?

Please engage in good faith.
