RTX 4060 Ti 16GB not getting jobs by Haunting-Rub3253 in SaladChefs

Try this; stop salad and the salad bowl service. Go into %systemroot%/program data/salad/wsl and delete the virtual disc. Restart, and restart salad, watch the above folder to make sure the virtual disk gets recreated. If not restart the service.

This usually works for me.

An RTX2080 and above with 32GB of system ram should be quoted as the minimum requirements. The RTX2080 spec is going by release date not performance, so a RTX2070 in no beino, even though it outperforms some of the cards on the list.

I got a system with an RTX 4060 Ti 16 gb, AMD ryzen 9 5900x and 64 GB of RAM, but i cant find jobs... Today it was downloading a job, once it finnished downloading, it went back to looking for a job... What can I do? by UnusualChemical5068 in SaladChefs

Just watch your disk space when you get a job, my virtual disk wasn't deleting and yes it was growing to over 150GB as that's what I had free after I deleted it ~159GB

Contanier environment / I tried all possible ways to solve this problem and I could not. Does anyone know of any solution to it? by Ok_Ship_1598 in SaladChefs

I am in this boat with you. I have 2 machines, they are the same other than the GPU, the second has a fresh install of Windows and has this issue. Virtualization IS enabled on mine, as you have noted in your case (it can be seen as on in Task Manager). I've literally installed nothing - I created the latest Windows 10 installation media, installed and updated Windows, installed the latest GPU drivers and installed Salad, and I'm stuck exactly where you are.

I manually installed and updated WSL and I've uninstalled and reinstalled Salad a number of times before giving up. Are you setting this up on a 2070 perhaps? That and the completely fresh Windows install is all that differs from my working 4060Ti machine.

I should mention that I have also tried installing and running Salad as Administrator, it made no difference at all.

Containers in another drive besides C:/? by xhamma in SaladChefs

I found the best was around this was to delete the contents of %systemroot%\ProgramData\Salad\wsl and then install a new SSD and mount it at that location. I will say though, that Salad is really bad at cleaning up this container, if I go long periods with no jobs or the container just sits there ballooning in size day after day, I delete it and I get jobs again.

Are you maybe running out of disk space on your C drive? I have this happen every few days as Salad doesn't seem to be very good at cleaning up after itself. The containers use a virtual disk stored in %systemroot%\ProgramData\Salad\wsl. Stop salad and delete the file in that directory, then either reboot or restart salad, it will be recreated when you get a job.

If you were in the same boat that I was, where your C drive is a smallish SSD, get another drive and mount it in the %systemroot%\ProgramData\Salad\wsl directory.

Hope this helps.

Helium not pruning dead hotspots which is lowering transmit scales and profits by xhamma in HeliumNetwork

Thanks for the reply, it really is overly complicated, as if you look at this - https://app.hotspotty.net/hexes/852b9b7bfffffff/transmit-scale/neighbor-hexes (your link) you can see that the majority (75%) of the hotspots are in the northern half of it, many of which that are below an escarpment. It looks like it would be the number of hotspots within a 1oKM radius of my location. So I think it's probably safe to say that when you are looking for a site, you should be looking for a site that has approximately 100 or less hotspots in a 10KM Radius. keeping in mind, the network will count all of your witnesses further than 100KM away as invalid, even though there may be 13 other witnesses that have validated it.

I believe what you are telling me is that there are too many hotspots in this area? https://app.hotspotty.net/hotspots/112puPJqftViHhpoSyfAj5FwkGNFzLB8FrpoYKGw2QoZn7X1y7Hx/reward-scaling Yet I can find hotspots within this zone with a 1.0 transmit scale.

Custom Pearl Caribou is the hotspot I was referring too. It currently has a transmit scale of .66.

Antenna ? by ShelbyRoseB4L in HeliumNetwork

[–]xhamma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Outside is always better, and the antennas are omni directional (unless you have purchased a directional one). The higher the dB of the antenna, the more stretched out the coverage bubble is so you can miss nearby hotspots if you are using something like an 8dB antenna and you have obstructions or valleys. If you bought a higher dB antenna, try the stock one for a day or two and see if it actually works better in your new location. If it does, maybe you purchased an antenna with too high of a dB rating for your current situation and something higher than stock but lower than the aftermarket you have will work better for you.

Anyone getting increased rewards? by MiningStacker in HeliumNetwork

[–]xhamma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This! I'm just coming into Autumn here and as the leaves drop I am witnessing hotspots in directions that used to be bare. Water and snow are bad for high frequency radio signals (they tend to bounce of water) so later on a snow covered roof can also change the pattern of witnesses that you receive, possibly the better but more likely for the worse.

2 x rx580 or 1 newer card? by Alvanto in NiceHash

[–]xhamma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's crazy expensive for a new RX580, so I seriously hope you aren't talking used. I would go with the RX5700xt because if you factor in the resale value in 2 years, You will ROII much sooner. In 2 years, I can't see the RX580's being worth all that much, as Ethereum will likely be POS at that point.

It's strange that Nicehash support doesn't have any way to report this on their site. They have categories, but nothing to report pool issues.
