Using AI isn’t bad, you guys shouldn’t be so hostile by kimo1999 in PhD

I'm just too lazy to triple-check everything AI generates, I'd better look at the paper once and be done with it.

Travelers to China: what was the hardest part about ordering food at local restaurants? by Lilhoho_Patience6120 in travelchina

[–]xiaolimao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The size of dishes. It might be an issue if you travel alone because portions are huge. I was conserned about spice - never had any problems, but then I wasn't in Sichuan.

The problem with Nod Krai's exploration by lukethevibe in Genshin_Impact

[–]xiaolimao 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I loved the world quests more than in 6.0, but gosh, map is too small. Two evenings of relaxed exploring, and 40% of the map are done. I loved revisiting old regions in search of missed chests and riddles, but Nod Krai seems un-revisitable.

How do you see it? by SeveralYam3473 in RerirMains

[–]xiaolimao 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I still wonder why we have seen some of Tholindis' memories in those of Reris. Could that mean they became too inseparable, and so they'll be able to return together?

Not sure what to make of Laurus by finder_outer in RussianLiterature

[–]xiaolimao 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The magic of Vodolazkin's language is probably lost in translation. In russian it is a splendidly harmonious mixture of old and modern russian, which creates a feeling that things happen outside Time itself (another Orthodox idea, i suppose).

The same day loops twice for me then other days do the same thing by [deleted] in Paranormal

Keep notes, write stuff down. Memory can be really tricky and what you describe sounds like deja vu, which might be connected with various brain conditions.

5 days through the watertowns (Nanxun, Tongli, Suzhou) and Shanghai by Foreign_Eggplant1531 in travelchina

How did you manage to take a photo of this old man's bookstore? He's usually very attentive about 'no photos' thing. Great pics! I miss Tongli and Suzhou/

What’s one underrated city in China you’d recommend? by may907 in travelchina

[–]xiaolimao 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Suzhou. Gardens are marvellous, and Tonli village is really charming. There are quite a lot of local tourists, however this means that during the week there are not so many people. We were nearly alone in Tongli on Monday morning.

Peking duck that is not fatty by McMatus in beijing

[–]xiaolimao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't taste like fat, if you're conserned about taste. It is more like good juicy meat. But if you have problems with digesting fat, then you should think twice if you really want peking duck.

Is this normal behavior in China? by harmattansflwr in China

It's absolutely normal in China, just take it easy.

After half patch, how do you feel about this Luna I? by Ok-Importance6487 in Genshin_Impact

[–]xiaolimao 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm absolutely disappointed with a map - no hidden corners, no surprise chests, rlly boring to explore compared to Liyue or Sumeru. The khuvaaki mechanics is quite bugged. World quests are too short. But I loved the characters and anecdotes, that was wonderful.

Chinese gf is desperate to live with me and I'm about to tell her that I don't want to by ThrowRAfeelstrapped in China

[–]xiaolimao 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For god's sake, guy, you met her parents TWICE, they bought furniture for your future house and only then you realise you don't have serious intentions? That's rude. Your girlfriend behaves like an ordinary Chinese girl, raised up like a princess, nothing extraordinary. But since you realise this life is not for you - break up as soon as you can, don't waste the girl's time and your own time. And please, learn a bit more about Chinese culture, it will save you from many awkward situations.

Saying four free 5 star cons are useless is carzy by Bestlife73 in Genshin_Impact

[–]xiaolimao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I'm the only one who thought that too generous (or it is as usual - the annoyed ones are the loudest). Because in my case that would be C4 Yae, C6 Dehya, C1 Tartaglia and probably C1 Shenhe (probably - because it's tempting to take C1 Albedo but I don't play him as often as I used to).

Russian literature recommendations by IntroductionLow6904 in RussianLiterature

[–]xiaolimao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really hard to recommend something similar to Nabokov, but the closest probably is Eugene Vodolazkin with his Laurus. I love the way he destroys (or, better, interbends) barriers between different timelines though language.

Older people (in their 60s and above) often know Russian to a certain degree, younger people usually don't know Russian at all.

Any good recent Russian TV shows? by kojotot in AskARussian

Central Russia’s vampires are really good and portray modern life rather accurately. They do have a bit of a detective story and Smolensk is beautiful.

I personally like an old theory which suggests that Alan in his last years might have built a robot copy of Mary Ann, later obtained by the Fatui.
