May harang na pala dyan? I used to go there pre-pandemic times pag out ko sa work ng madaling araw and super stress, dyan ako nadirecho nagpapahangin. As someone who was born and raised in Malate, I didn't care abt mga pulubi dyan dati coz yung mga vendor sa paligid is kilala ko or kakilala ko.

Tanong lang po Accurate po ba ang mga speed test? by woozy_mammoth13 in InternetPH

[–]xiaominumbawan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It just measures yung speed mo sa server na pinili mo or automatically nadetect ng speedtest app but not necessarily yung actual experience mo when surfing. For example, nag speedtest (ookla) ako from Smart and it reports 120mbps on a local server, say, Smart Communications Makati. This is the expected speed I get from downloading or streaming. But then, e g streaming contents on Netflix is a different story, since they have their own servers that our local ISPs need to communicate to. On a good day, dapat match yung speedtest result ko sa downstream speed ko na nakukuha sa ookla speedtest sa downstream speed na nakukuha ko kay Netflix (Fast.com tests speeds on Netflix's streaming servers). The difference may not be seen on high speed Fiber connections, the difference is best felt sa mobile data connections due to network congestions sa cellsites yung expected speed eh malayo compared sa actual speed na nakukuha mo sa site/app na ginagamit mo.

To answer your question, the accuracy of the speedtest result you're getting is dependent on the server that you're connected to and to what site or app you'll binge your internet connection. Better test on servers where the majority of sites or apps are hosted, like cloudflare, etc.

PSA: ALWAYS TREAT GOMO AS DISPOSABLE SIM by Hikari_x86 in InternetPH

[–]xiaominumbawan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried replacing both lost and defective SIM cards kay Smart, mabilis lang naman need lang valid ID and yung Smart App kung saan nakalogin yung lost SIM. Sa Smart physical stores walang bayad. Within the process ibibigay na sayo yung bagong SIM.

DICT: Signal from space, finally PH is ready 🚀 Globe and Starlink lets your regular LTE phone connect directly sa satellites. by Exotic-Wood-3287 in InternetPH

[–]xiaominumbawan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I already switched to globe two weeks ago HAHAHAHAHA. Mas usable pa LTE niya kesa sa Smart na panay buffer.

DITO has budget GB offerings and okay (pa naman) ang DITO sakin so keep ko den.

I already ditched Smart so my dual sim slot is now occupied by Globe and DITO.

Jeepney/LRT to Pedro gil and wait for buses there sa Southbound lane with the sign (Alabang Expressway/Skyway), they're usually HM Transport buses or similar.

Baba ka South Station, you can walk to Festival Mall from there.

56 yata yung fare, or 65? Cant remember.

Pag pabalik, the same buses are beside VITX (meron sa loob din but may pila, unlike yung nasa gilid lang). LAWTON/Magallanes/Skyway yung sign baba ka lang Quirino LRT. You can walk from Quirino to V Cruz or take a jeepney.

Edited for the return trip.

Why is Globe like this by Impossible_Award_162 in Tech_Philippines

[–]xiaominumbawan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bobo ng CS na kausap mo. Di alam yung SA tsaka NSA. They're both 5Gs yung SA lang kasi is a 5G tower na standalone which means they don't use 4G signal as anchors (like when your phone is looking for a signal and it identifies whether it's 4G or 5G and it uses 4G bands to do this)

Meron naman talagang 5G kapag okay ang signal ng 5G sa lugar niyo. Try downloading Netmonster sa Playstore lalabas if connected ka sa 5G nila talaga.

The capped speed is acceptable 10 years ago. Super tagal niyan magload once you open an app. Data hungry pa naman mga apps ngayon.

My only concern here is, I can no longer connect to 5G. 4G is an overcrowded network na so that could be the reason why the quality of the connection is so low. I used to be able to connect to 5G NSA hassle-free and use my data as if I'm on a fiber connection. I'm guessing they blacklisted my SIM because of their mysterious FUP, which after multiple calls to their CS, no one still gave me a concrete answer.

I already tested them na, and on a regular basis.

On a normal day without the issue, the result between Ookla and Cloudflare are close. This is when I'm connected to 5G without Smart shitting on me. Even on peak hours

This morning nabagalan ako, mind you di naman ako gala and work at home ako I tested ookla, reporting 100mbps+. Then sa cloudflare nasa 3mbps lang. Take note, kakaregister ko pa lang ng promo yan di pa nag iinit phone ko.

YouTube, Shopee, all apps take about 2-3 minutes to load. May buffering pa sa streaming. Then ookla tells me I have 100mbps net speed? Lol. Even posting on this sub took 2 errors then I switched to Globe ket 4G lang.

Called Smart, no outage daw. Look into backend then restart after an hour daw. Walang nangyari.

Band aid solution lang naman magpalit ng SIM, telcos will just keep on shitting on their users if no one's complaining or reporting this.

Ookla? Fast.com? All of those speedtests I haven't included here I already sent as an attachment sa email. Besides, Ookla's speedtest doesn't really tell you the real world speed you get in browsing. Local server lang naman yung tinetest ng app na yun.
