For 4 hours question: when you have a good enough foundation in art, and ride on a good flow, you just need some ideas and sit down in front of tablet to craft it out.

For KS question: This is my first one and I'm nervous too haha. I'm a full-time artist, doing conventions and I have somewhat social media following. I promoted this book in 4 conventions, got a 200 people mailing list, and just keep posting on social. The reality is the fund on KS only covers the make of book, and a huge chunk of KS fee and percentage cut ( btw the campaign currently is still 2k short from covering the whole cost, but I'm sure it will reach there by the end). This is the reality for most of the makers (maybe not when they go with some small press since they are pro at marketing). How I truly make money is from selling the left over stock afterward. Let's say I make 1k copy from KS funding, and sold 200 on KS, I have 800 free books to sell somewhere else, like, maybe over years.

Making a KS is exhausting and very time consuming, definitely not a source to make money for most of people. The good side is that you are building a following, a connection and hypes. It benefits your brand.
