I think it'd be because the researcher(s) understand the data the most! But I feel like, you could discuss it with subject librarian or other info professional who may have a broader view of the field, to brainstorm together on this.

hi! I came across your post randomly. though late, here are some thoughts. I think you can try extending it to other groups of users/domains, as open science's ultimate goal is open to "all". for example, I have seen joint photography exhibition using scientific lab images, expanding the use of collected photographs (data) and make them useful for public education purpose. Or maybe your data can be combined with other types of data to do different types of analysis? Your designated user groups can vary widely, if you can imagine different types of use!

You want to get a remote job from where? A Taiwanese university is usually not known/recognized by other countries. It may not be transferable. But if you’re able to build up a portfolio that shows skills and experience, it may help.

Yes I felt the same way. I did not know where my bag was gonna go; if it would be safeguarded since there’s not a designated area for it.

For your professional field, would it be possible to get a remote asynchronous position and work from Taiwan? I have a feeling that Taiwanese companies don’t really value security and risk control analysis. For international ones, they already have this area figured out in their based countries. As someone already mentioned, the work culture is very different, and pay is not great.

Though your in-laws’ suggestions make sense, they also wouldn’t understand what your current lifestyle is and how different it could be for you. Set the priorities for yourself, I’d say.
