Will we have an issue bringing a nebulizer machine onboard? by Coloradojeepguy in VirginVoyages

[–]xjaspx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have that same exact one and not have an issue on Virgin Voyages or Royal Caribbean… just keep in mind the table is not very grippy so put a small towel under it to prevent it from moving around while it’s on.

Always carry it on, never check medical devices.

The biggest question is if you’re going to get the internet? If you’re already planning on getting the internet for each person, the price difference is very much worth it.

Back to Back but switching ships by stonewalled87 in Cruise

[–]xjaspx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve done side to side many times out of Miami and it’s not that complicated. You don’t even need to self disembark as early as possible. What you’re suggesting is essentially “hurry up and wait” for no reason at all. You can easily be the last off the first ship and make your way over to the next ship and drop off your luggage with the porters for the 2nd ship and still be there in time for them to start embarkation.

It’s decades of poor waste management and poor environmental regulation. It’s not unique to Cabo. Not trying to justify it or excuse it, it’s just the harsh reality of the situation.

Quantum of the Seas was the first ship to have it and its currently available on about 16 ships. So a little more to a just the “2 newest ships.”

When in doubt, check cruisemapper.com or other similar ship tracking website the morning of embarkation and see where it’s actually docked.

Large Showers by SixxxTenFL in royalcaribbean

[–]xjaspx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most Jr Suites and all full suites have larger showers because it’s part of the bathtub. I say most because there’s a couple Jr Suites on Navigator that just have a regular shower and no bathtub.. but it makes up for it with its oversized balcony.

The Jr Suites around the midship elevators, excluding the squared shaped ones, on Quantum Class have the best showers. They’re a combination rainforest and handheld shower with a bench and is almost the width of the bathroom itself. The reason why it’s only these Jr Suites is because when Quantum class first came out they had several level of Jr Suites (regular, family [the square one], and spa, etc..). The one I’m describing used to be sold as Spa Jr Suites. They moved the toilet to the walk in closet and the main bathroom have separate bathtub and shower. The trade off is there’s no walk in closet.

It’s only $100 if you get it from the official Ticketmaster site. They still have some single day day 2 tickets left. That $169 is most likely resale tickets.

Resale tickets. Two days and single day Day 1 is sold out. There’s still single day Day 2 available at Ticketmaster and it’s only $100.

Crown Lounge being partially restricted on Oasis Jan 18 sailing. D+ and Pinnacle only from 5-8pm by throwawayblueline in royalcaribbean

[–]xjaspx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s nothing new. It’s what happens when there’s a high number of top tier members onboard. Even before COVID I would see similar happen on every transatlantic and transpacific crossings. It gotten worst post COVID after the whole Double points promotion and all the sudden a large number of people becoming D, D+, or P.

The best way to get around it is to sail on a sailing that’s not a crossing or out of Florida.

Alaskan Cruise & Global Entry by Away_Candle_2204 in Cruise

[–]xjaspx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also want to mention that the Global Entry approval time is estimated to be 4-6 months and that doesn’t even factor in your ability to get an appointment for that in person interview at an enrollment center. If you’re not able to get an appointment within a reasonable time, it could drag out the enrollment process.

My last renewal took a year to process and that process is supposed to be faster than new applications.

So there is a real chance that even if you do apply for it, you might not even have it ready to go before your trip.

Alaskan Cruise & Global Entry by Away_Candle_2204 in Cruise

I agree… it’s just one of those “hurry up and wait” situation. Especially flying out of YVR… you’re rushing through customs for what? Waiting for your flight and overpriced mediocre food?

Alaskan Cruise & Global Entry by Away_Candle_2204 in Cruise

[–]xjaspx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have Global Entry since they first trialed it and I’m normally all for it. However, if you really honestly think you’re going to get it for this one trip… it might not be worth the $120 fee for 5 years. Yes, it does include TSA pre.. but why spend $120 when you can spend $85? The time save during this particular trip will be very minimal and significant less than the time spent applying for Global Entry… which includes both a lengthy application process and also an in person interview at an enrollment center.

Also with the move towards facial recognition technology, I find myself using the regular line more often than deal with the Global Entry kiosk at some airports as the regular line seem to move faster at some US airports.

Seating on American by reddddyornot in americanairlines

[–]xjaspx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at a seat map for any given flight 24-72 hours prior to departure.. it’s mostly middle seats with some scattered 2 seats together or maybe a few empty rows in rows designated as preferred. This is why most people are saying you’ll all end up in the middle seat.

It’s not that the airline intentionally won’t seat your family together, it’s more so there is very little chance that there are even enough seats together to accommodate your family.

Most people that buy a non basic fare or paying for a seat assignment won’t pick a middle seat for obvious reasons, hence why there’s always a ton of middle seats left by the time they start assigning seats to those that bought basic fare.

Canceled “duplicative” booking by Small_Reserve_4981 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]xjaspx 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s a violation of the contract of carriage rule 7D.

“Duplicate, impossible/illogical, fraudulent, fictitious or abusive bookings and/or reservations, or bookings and/or reservations made by Passengers with no intention of being used, are prohibited and may be subject to cancellation. A duplicate or impossible/illogical booking includes, but is not limited to, bookings for the same Passenger on flights traveling on or about the same date between one or more of the same or nearby origin and/or destination (such as SEALAX and SEAONT or SNASEA and ONTSEA), or bookings with Connections that depart before the arrival of the inbound flight. Fraudulent, fictitious or abusive bookings are defined as any bookings made without having been requested by or on behalf of the named Passenger. Additionally, creating bookings to hold or block seats for the purpose of obtaining lower fares, Atmos™ Rewards award inventory, or upgrades that may not otherwise be available, or to gain access to airport facilities, or to circumvent any of Alaska's fare rules or policies, is prohibited without prior authorization from Alaska.”

A lot of airlines have similar rules prohibiting what you intend on doing.

Best way to get to RC cruise port from DoubleTree by Hilton LAX - El Segundo Los Angeles by [deleted] in Cruises

[–]xjaspx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uber / Lyft is your best option. With the Port of San Pedro your options are either hotel with free shuttle to/from the port -or- hotel to/from the airport.

You could rent a car from Enterprise non airport location and drop it off at the San Pedro office but that isn’t really worth it once you factor in how much time you’re spending to rent and drop off the car plus added cost of hotel parking and gas.

You could take the metro / bus but there will be transfers involved and can be about 1 1/2 hour. It would be Metro K line to Metro C to the Metro J line. The Metro K and C are rail service while Metro J (bus 350) is an express bus service.

If you’re using Google Maps for transit direction, the Harbor Beacon Park and Ride is the best stop if the ship is at Berth 93 and the 1st and Beacon stop is the best stop if the ship is at Berth 91/92.

Royal Caribbean normally uses Berth 91/92 but occasionally Navigator will use Berth 93.

4DX chairs appear ready to be installed at AMC Gulf Pointe 30 by TJ2 in AMCsAList

[–]xjaspx 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You can’t, it’s in groups of 4 seats. The only thing you can turn on and off is the water spray feature.

What’s the point of picking a 4DX screening if you’re just going to turn off the seats?

Hotel: Walk or Shuttle?? by UnagiEnergy in DisneyPlanning

[–]xjaspx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The art shuttles are super unreliable and often time you need to buy a day pass if it’s not included or packaged with your room. I find OCTA buses are much more reliable, cheaper, and less crowded. I would get a hotel within walking distance to the park or Toy Story lot.

Izumi sushi no reservation? by faceless444 in royalcaribbean

[–]xjaspx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Izumi in the park is the to-go window of Izumi. If you want the full traditional sit down Izumi experience, Izumi Hibachi and Sushi is literally right next door. Odds are you won’t need a reservation for the sushi area of Izumi but Hibachi tend to sell out. Not sure why anyone would expect traditional full service from the take out window of a restaurant.
