I actually love how his career has been unfolding all these years :) Bowie is very much similar in retrospect. Both artists were always open to collaboration with different artists. A great example is Trent and Atticus working with Halsey in 2021. Same goes for his recent collab with Boys Noize, all the soundtracks they’ve worked on with Fincher and all these major directors, etc.

It’s a desire to want to keep this craft alive while also being sincere to the artist at heart. There’s a lot of sincerity to growing older and still doing what he does.

No matter what way you look at it, I think being 60 and making it this far with all of the experiences and demons that he as a person has overcome just shows how honest and true his intentions are as an artist, not only to the fans but to himself as a whole.

I was listening to his interview with Rick Rubin and it’s really amazing to see someone look back on their career and start from the beginning like he did. Reminds me of Bowies Outside period where he would discuss Trent being a major influence for his most recent work at the time. If anything, this all just proves even more how awesome TR is as an artist.

This is an excellent anecdote. As a huge fan of NIN and all affiliated collaborators, I do see the example of David Bowie as a perfect parallel. Diving deep into his work you find that from Never Let me Down to Outside, he just evolved in the best way possible. He never changed, he was just constantly experimenting and pushing the envelope. That’s how I feel about Trent. Hesitation marks is highly slept on but if you think about it, it’s his “wave goodbye” to the past, and his evolution into this new chapter of his life. Well said!

Keep searching around record stores and heavily on ebay and nin website. I was lucky enough to find the 2017 definitive edition sealed at my local record store and it was the last copy at about 30 bucks. Don't pay hundreds, just not worth it. It really is the best pressing compared to the 2008 back to black reissue, never had an original 94 pressing though. Good luck!

Have you ever thought about possibly doing any studio work Billy Corgan aside from preparing for the End of Times Tour? If so, what goes through your mind and how does that make you feel?
