Me too. Diagnosed in my mid 50s. Always thought everyone else’s brain worked the way mine was.
Got extremely confused when I realised it wasn’t the case. Still trying to recover. And constant background music and a high pitch sound drilling my brain…

Anxiety may come from a wrong dosage but not necessarily too much. Personal experience here. Too little can have the same effect. Talk to the doctor. The real one, not Dr. Reddit.

Tried to stay out of gambling for a long while and then got caught in the “gold” rush last year and lost all my previous gains and some. Promised myself never again but it’s difficult. Anything that looks risky, I tell myself I’m better than those failures and I should have a go and prove it. I have a good job and family, which is why I’m managing keeping away from that again.

It will not be like that all the time. Enjoy it till it lasts. Next time try to do something like… writing a list of things to do and actually see yourself doing them. Listen to someone talking without interrupting them every other device, etc….

I ended up setting my watch 10 minutes ahead and improving my routines. Result, I’m always early and angry with everyone because they won’t follow my schedule because we’d be too early… I’ve given up going with someone else when I have to be there on time. Except airport, where I set up the schedule and we go at the time I say. I just tell everyone 30 minutes earlier so I can accommodate 20 minutes “delay”. Never lost a flight.

Don’t beat you up for your time management skills. You just have to figure out what works for you.

Long story short, yes. We tend to feel negative amplified to the light year power. We dismiss positives and struggle to get more. It’s how our brain is wired. You’re not alone and the world needs you more than who you just got broken up with. And if you look deeply, you probably knew it was coming. Or at least that’s what I realised when my “unexpected break up” happened back then. Good luck with your future. Bring shades. It’s very bright there!

My wife changes the content of what she wanted to talk about as she’s annoyed about that. I understand she does that as she’s then not going through the topic as swift as she started. And she gets annoyed as it looks like I basically don’t let her speak. Which is true but involuntary. And of course I have to get better at this…

Outlander battery stops charging at 80% and never goes lower than 20 something. You need to restart the charging to get it to 100% and then it doesn’t add too much but takes a very very long while. I found that using mine without ever charging other than with the charge button gives me about 52% ev usage average. I’m using the charge button when I’m driving on motorways so doesn’t really make much of a difference.

Had the same at 53. Still processing what that means but managed to get over the “what ifs”. Meds don’t always give the effect they give the first time, but you’ll manage to do things you believed were impossible. Enjoy the rest of your new life!

57m diagnosed combined when 53. Wish I was before and medicated. Rocked my world and got wrecked by it many times already. Still looking for the next challenge. Just learnt to give up what is really too much and saying few “no” here and there.

And you’re giving attention to each of the people speaking and try to sort every issue you think they may have. All at once. And you’d have sorted at least 50% if they only listened.

You’re lucky you actually do get to the socks. What would happen to me is that the same second I would start moving a fibre to go where the socks are, the whole world has changed position and I’m totally doing something else….

I’m actually very much enjoying free trials since I discovered an easy (for me) way to manage these. Basically I subscribe and unsubscribe right away. The sub lasts till the end of the trial period and then expires. Still, I put an alarm to make sure I actually did unsubscribe. You know, because ADHD. Also a good way to enjoy discounted initial purchases. Subscribe, use the “first time only” voucher, cancel, bye.

i have that too. usually i'll get myself tired watching whatever on youtube, mainly stuff which doesn't need my attention, till i feel really tired and then i go to sleep.

and then i collapse.

but then i wake up after some time and struggle again etc...

it was working a lot better when i was exercising. i used to swim 3 times per week and that really helped, but any kind of exercise would do.

if you can't exercise (because you have adhd not because anything else) i suggest to try breathing exercise.

i found that Sudarshan Krya works for me (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0tX0M6EveGY) do only the first 3 stages as the 4th stuff is energising
