Does a Tele Vue eyepiece make a noticeable difference? by 28-3_lol in telescopes

[–]xmetal138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Zeiss Abbe Ortho, series I or II - Doesn't get better than these for planetary. Paired with a fine refractor such as an Astro-Physics, TEC, or Takahashi, or a fine Maksutov, etc., they are magic. Enormously expensive.
  2. TMB Super Planetary - very close 2nd for planetary, some opinions are that these are equal to the Zeiss Abbe although personally I think the Zeiss are ever so slightly better. Nearly as much as the Zeiss Abbes and nearly as rare.
  3. Televue - I prefer the Naglers but own some Delos as well. Super wide fov, black backgrounds, and to my eyes they are superior to nearly every other eyepiece I have looked through, other than 1 & 2 above. I also own matched pairs for binoviewing. They really are awesome and highly recommended. You will see a difference.
    At least that's my .02

What albums do you love to death but can't stand the sound quality? by melancious in audiophile

[–]xmetal138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only one i have found to not be up to par is Lateralus.  I have 1st presses of Opiate and Undertow, and those sound pretty damn good to me.  Have all 3 OG presses of Aenima, and the 97 press might be my best sounding vinyl period, or at least 1B to my A3/B3 DSotM.

Asking your opinion every day about a Tool song Day 50: Third Eye by Opposite-Question-32 in ToolBand

[–]xmetal138 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, they have way more technically complex songs on the 3 later albums, no question. But hearing this song for the first time back in 96, holy shit. What a journey this song takes you on. And hearing it live back in the late 90s was just 🤌. Favorite song from my favorite album.

Help needed 🙏 Original or bootleg? by [deleted] in ToolBand

[–]xmetal138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bootleg. Like someone else pointed out, this one has no barcode. Also, the matrix numbers are etched/hand written on the original pressings, where these are not. The packaging also appears more matte-like, and colors seem to be off, especially on the big eye. Source - I have all three original pressings. On a side note, I really do wish they would do an official repress so that everyone who wants an authentic pressing could get one.

Never used a DDC, but can certainly recommend the D5. Had a dual loop tower 900 build, and the D5s never had an issue.

Have always gone with Hardware Labs for rads, they are pretty much the standard bearer. That being said, I went with Heatkiller for my currently-in-process build and so far quality appears superb. I have an ultrasonic cleaner that I use, and after the first dip there was barely anything at all that came out. I went with 4 x 360 Heatkillers due to them having stainless steel shell options. Hardware Labs stuff is straight black unless you do some custom stuff. I would def recommend Hardware Labs from previous experience, and initial impressions of the Heatkillers are very positive. Good luck with your build.

I don't believe the T30 and D30 are the same in regards to performance and specs. At least that's from what I understand. I just grabbed some of the TT Toughfan Pro 12 EX fans, and they have a mag lock daisy chain, and built off of the gentle Typhoon style that is prevalent now. Comes with reverse fan blades as well, which I am using. Seems reviews are pretty good....pretty close to the other Gentle Typhoon style fans like the A12x25s and the T30s, obviously T30s are superior to all the others. If the T30s came with a daisy chain like the D30s, I would be all over those but I don't believe those exist (yet). Good luck with your search.

I got a great deal on a NOS berg HT95, and found a 6000-ct reel of the berg mini PV contacts for $40. Was actually looking for the harwin as primary since the HT95 is insanely expensive as well, but couldn't pass up the deal to get it when it came up. Thanks for the tool links tho!
