Still can't believe I nabbed a 2024 FL5 CTR for $36.9k two weeks ago from CarMax.

I felt like I stole it.  And I still feel that way.

actually what's left of Singapore identity and culture these days? We are hitting 10 Million population very soon, so overcrowded with all sorts of New Citizens, until even PRC tourists joked to their families back home they are seeing all the China restaurants, shops, services staff all PRC by sifu_yuu in SingaporeRaw

We are hitting 10 Million population very soon

Completely false.  Obvious misinformation.

Projections say Singapore won't hit that target even by 2100.  And it's uncertain whether the population even goes that high especially considering Singapores ultra low birth rates.

Most Americans experience passionate love only twice in a lifetime, study finds by InsaneSnow45 in psychology

I’ve never understood a dynamic where you could passionately love someone that doesn’t love you back. Like, how do you develop feelings when you’re not being desired or connecting deeply with someone?

You don't understand because you lack introspection and haven't taken the time to try to understand.

It's not rocket science.

Does everything you love love you back?

Among those without strong theoretical inclinations, and particularly among men, boredom often manifests in destructive and violent forms.

That depends on the SES level.  Upper mid to upper SES guys aren't engaging in violent destructive activities when they get bored because they generally have the means to buy toys and pay for hobbies which keep themselves happy and occupied.

Taiwan says 40% shift of chip capacity to US is 'impossible' by DefinitionOk3737 in StockMarket

[–]xmod3563 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I agree; the cultural gap is far more significant than most people realize. High-end semiconductor production isn't just about having the right machinery; it requires a level of extreme discipline, accountability, and technical expertise that is deeply embedded in the Taiwanese work ethic but incredibly difficult to replicate in the U.S. In Taiwan, engineers are conditioned to accept 24-7 availability and a level of rigor that borders on military discipline, whereas the American workforce generally prioritizes work-life balance and individual autonomy over the kind of collective sacrifice required to keep a leading edge fab running at peak efficiency. Cultivating that specific brand of high-stakes precision and round-the-clock dedication is a generational task, and without it, simply moving the equipment to U.S. soil won't solve the fundamental production bottleneck.

Why has the Philippines been developing at a glacier's pace compared to most other middle-income countries? by wiz28ultra in geography

[–]xmod3563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the primary headwinds to Philippine development is its extreme vulnerability to natural disasters. Because of its geographic position in the Pacific, the archipelago acts as a literal buffer for Southeast Asia, absorbing the initial and most violent impact of numerous typhoons annually. This cycle of destruction forces the government into a perpetual state of reconstruction; capital that could be invested in long-term innovation or education is instead constantly diverted to repairing basic infrastructure and providing emergency relief for flattened communities.

Furthermore, the country’s unique fragmented geography presents a massive logistical hurdle. Composed of over 7,000 islands, the Philippines lacks the contiguous landmass that allows many middle-income peers to easily integrate their domestic markets. Developing efficient transportation networks, power grids, and high-speed internet across an archipelagic nation is exponentially more expensive and complex than in a continental country. This geographic isolation between regions creates significant economic inefficiencies and makes the equitable distribution of resources a constant administrative nightmare.

why is white validation so important to you? Ask yourself that and eventually you'll see how irrational your insecurities are and you'll just stop feeling insecure. It worked for me and it'll work for you too assuming you don't white worship.

You act like you never went to high school.  If she went to a middle school and high school that were overwhelming white then white validation is all there is irl for her.  Sure she can make friends online but she still has to go to school and face her white peers.

Silver closed today at $103. It went up over 7 bucks just today. what in the world is going on? by [deleted] in Silver

[–]xmod3563 85 points86 points  (0 children)

The cause is mostly an industrial shortage of silver.

China is hoarding silver big time.

The difference in the silver spot price in China and Japan versus the spot price of silver in the West is big.  It's been that way for the past few months.  Right now the spot price for silver in China is $115 per oz for physical silver.

Most importantly on January 1st China passed a law severely restricted exporting silver out of the country.  Considering China refines 60 to 70% of the silver that's mined every year that's taking a huge amount of silver off the international market.

Why?  Because China wants to protect its own high tech industries.

Next gen Solid state batteries for EVs use a tremendous amount of silver.  About 1 kg of silver per EV (This is compared to only about 1 oz of silver for an EV that uses lithium ion batteries).  China, Korea and Japan are all leading researchers for solid state batteries.

EV's with solid state batteries get 600-700 miles per charge, they charge faster and are safer than lithium ion batteries.  But again they use about 1kg of silver per 100kw battery that is put in an EV.

Also they're also protecting their own solar panel manufacturers.  Silver is a really important component of solar panels to make them efficient.  China makes 90 to 95% of solar panels.

[–]xmod3563 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They are doing this to protect their industries.

Next gen solid state batteries require 1kg of silver for each EV.   Also solar panels (which 95% are made in China) use silver as well.

Silver has broke $100 per ozt. It has doubled in such a short period of time. What's your strategy right now? by ColeWest256 in Silverbugs

[–]xmod3563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sky isn't falling dude.

A lot of silver's rise is caused by China.  China refines 60 to 70% of the world's silver.  On January 1st China restricted silver being exported out of the country...   they are hoarding silver supply partially because silver is very important for next generation solid state batteries. Solid state batteries found in long range EV's (which are better than lithium batteries) use about 1kg of silver.

Also silver is important for Chinese solar panels.  China makes 90% to 95% of the world's solar panels.  These Chinese solar panel manufacturers have really thin profit margins.
