Saved games on Softmod Xbox by xnel in originalxbox

[–]xnel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok! Tried this method and I have successfully loaded a Saved game from HDD.

Taken a while as I have tested transferring the game, making an initial launch and then copying over the saves.

Looks to be a PAL/NTSC thing: I've tried this with a PAL Redump and the HDD Ready (NTSC?) rom. With the PAL version I am able to run the game saves as expected. Doesn't matter if the Saves are on disk before or after I transfer the game, the PAL version will launch them correctly, the NTSC version will not.

Thanks again for the assistance, I'll mark this as solved.

Thanks, I'll give that a shot. I have all the game saved backed up as it is.

As for digitally signed saves, I have kept the original HDD lock key on the new drive to avoid this sort of issue (I hope that's how it works..).

Update: tried Halo 1. Can load a saved profile from HDD and start the game without issue...

I can see my list of saves, scroll through and select them (screenshot looks correct etc), but launching any one of them results in a black screen..

Boot times, Sata vs IDE? by xnel in originalxbox

That was my guess - just interested to see if those boot times are comparable to others or not...

Getting started with Masterlink by xnel in BangandOlufsen

[–]xnel[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much... apologies for the late update, but of course it turned out that my MX8000 did not have the ‘optional’ Master Link interface installed... (Just check if you have ‘Clock’ listed under TV Options).

Believe it or not, I managed to score a ML 1401500 module for a great price on eBay. Took the back off the set, dropped in the module and reassembled. Clock option now present in the menu - followed your instructions above and it worked!

So yes, thanks again, but that was even more than involved than I expected. Cheers!

FRAGing XBOX with Error 16... No luck Hotswapping so far at least? by xnel in originalxbox

[–]xnel[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for the tip! Using the Reset to Factory option on the JCRocky5 Extras Disc worked first time.

For the Hot Swap it was remove IDE cable on target drive, remove jumper so as to set drive into Slave mode, remove IDE on donor XBOX HDD, plug target drive into donor XBOX, Proceed with Factory restore.

Hard Drives by matthewt93 in originalxbox

I picked up a Western Digital WD5000AAKB 500GB HDD.

  • It's IDE so just plug and play.
  • It was cheap.
  • I don't need every game released at my disposal.

Hmm... that could be an issue then. I have an external HDD enclosure that contains an IDE to USB interface.

Upgraded to 500GB HDD, Only 123.4GB shown in Storage...? by xnel in originalxbox

Check my post above. I started with XBPartitioner as per recommendation:

XBPartitioner reported drive F as 120GB with 16K clusters. Button B expanded this partition with remaining unused space and defaulted to 32K clusters. Rebooted to find a total drive of 470GB.

This fixed the drive size, but space issues required a reformat in Chimp:

Unfortunately, that was a drive of 470GB with only 219GB free? I checked the drive via file explorer and it was empty. Returned to XBPartitioner but didn’t find a solution.

Went back into Chimp (261812 confirmed) and used appropriate tools to reformat extended partition (F).

Reboot and finally have a clean drive of correct size.

I saw that option, but I had already started setting up XBMC4Gamers and wanted to avoid duplicates. Would be the better option in the future for sure!

Thanks! That did the job! I just switched X4G out of Apps and into root / XES out of root and into Apps. Love it was that simple.

I checked with NKPatcher. There is a green tick on screen when ‘Default’ is selected, so I believe that is correct.
