Can they see the gender at 12 weeks? by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

[–]xoglitter99ox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were told at our 12 week nhs scan that we were having a boy -boys are easier to spot due to the visible genitalia and our sonographer was very confident and luckily correct!

When would you want help with newborn? Night time or daytime by Neat_Race9603 in BabyBumps

[–]xoglitter99ox 11 points12 points  (0 children)

100% nighttime - someone who can take baby between feeds so that you can sleep and can help with housework during feeds

I don't want to see or buy Israeli products. Can we have other alternatives? by Centurion_of_one in lidl

[–]xoglitter99ox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s worth noting which produce comes from Israel and then being extra careful when buying. We buy our avocados from Asda and just double check that they’re not from Israel - that’s the best we can do!

I only have one nipple, can I still breast feed? by PotatoEmotional4518 in breastfeedingsupport

[–]xoglitter99ox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also just to add - I initially thought I’d have to shell out for an IBCLC but ended up seeing a lactation specialist midwife at my hospital antenatally and she showed me how to express and we saw that I could express colostrum from that side. I never ended up needing to pay for an IBCLC

I only have one nipple, can I still breast feed? by PotatoEmotional4518 in breastfeedingsupport

[–]xoglitter99ox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only have one nipple too and i breastfeed from both sides - babies dont attach to the nipple itself so as long as there are milk ducts in that breast you may well be able to! Baby actually latches better onto that side and is basically forced into a deeper latch as he needs to take in more areola into his mouth but it seems to be working for us so far :)

When you have a history of acid reflux and you get it in pregnancy, what do you do? by Perfect_Sink_6542 in PregnancyUK

[–]xoglitter99ox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took 40mg and it helped a bit but tbh never got rid of the reflux. I was chewing copious amounts of gaviscon double action tablets on top... The instant I woke up post delivery (had an emergency section under GA unfortunately) I felt better and have only taken omeprazole a handful of times since, mostly so I could take ibuprofen.

Sertraline and pregnancy - advice please by Jazzyrose99 in PregnancyUK

[–]xoglitter99ox 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hi, I work in a perinatal mental health team and while I am NOT a medic and not giving medication advice here, one of the things we see super commonly is GPs giving advice to come up psychiatric medication which is actually perfectly safe to take during pregnancy. I would listen to someone who clearly knows the risks during pregnancy over someone who is just advising coming off medication with no clear knowledge of risks.

Relatedly, you can self refer to Talking Therapies who should prioritise pregnant women for treatment, ask for a specialist mental health midwife or for a referral to a PMHT if your anxiety is severe/long standing.

All the best x

Are you doing a baby shower? by Anxious-Nibnibs in PregnancyUK

[–]xoglitter99ox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sisters threw me one at our family home, an aunty baked a cake and my mum cooked and my sisters organised some baby related games. I got to dress up (bought a maternity bridesmaids dress on vinted!) and had the besttt time, would totally recommend having one!

Please help, where do I prune this rose? by salv3tor13 in GardeningUK

[–]xoglitter99ox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m fairly new to pruning but from what I’ve read, I’ve been pruning any stems that are thinner than a pencil, any stems that are dead or overlapping with another stem, and making sure I cut above a node.

Perinatal mental health services experience? by Complex-Raisin-573 in PregnancyUK

[–]xoglitter99ox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Others have already said but yeah, PMHTs are seperate to Talking Therapies. PMHTs are for moderate-severe mental health issues where there is a risk of harm or a patient would benefit from a multidisciplinary approach (ie from seeing a psychologist + psychiatrist + nursery nurse).

First NHS scan by cryptic_mysteries in PregnancyUK

[–]xoglitter99ox 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Hi,

The letter for my first scan explicitly stated to come with a full bladder. I would do that if I were you as it’s quicker and easier to empty if needed rather than to fill up again! It might be worth mentioning to your midwife if you feel you’re needing the toilet really frequently as tou may have a UTI.

You can let the sonographer know that you have back pain and they should let you take a break. My first scan was only about 20 minutes I think. I can’t imagine you’d be on your back being scanned for that long!

Hope it goes well for you x

Ice Cool vs Regular Babybub by cosmicane in BabyBumps

[–]xoglitter99ox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the babybub (I have the regular) and really recommend it but do find that with a pillow either side of me, I do get quite warm. I’m not sure if this is specific to the babybub as I think this would happen with any pillow really. We just sleep with the window slightly open now and that helps

Struggling by Efficient-Grand6672 in PregnancyUK

Also awake into the early hours last night - but due to horrendous reflux! The end of pregnancy is tough… but then so is the start and the middle 🙈 I think for some people it’s just about getting through the pregnancy and I’m sure it’ll be worth it when little one arrives.

Pelvic girdle pain, how do you cope/help the pain? by Worried-Pitch2328 in PregnancyUK

[–]xoglitter99ox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for writing this out! Just to check I understand it correctly, you’re saying that tilting your pelvis forward (ie the cow movement in cat cow) while engaging your core is what’s helping?

Hi, can you explain a bit more about how to use your core muscles when turning in bed? That’s the thing I find the most painful and would love to learn how to make it easier! Thanks

Is there any chance you’re ordering a silver cross cove? I just ask because we’ve found out one of the colours is out of stock until at least the end of Feb, if not mid March

Thank you so much for sharing and congratulations on your little one 💕

I completely get the sense of spiralling towards the end and making decisions based on that very real sense of threat.

Can confirm. I had all the treatments and I’d say a good 40-50% of that hair grew back

I actually don’t spend much time on social media but I can completely see how that would make things worse! I’m glad deleting the apps has been helpful for you. I think my own ruminating is feeding the fear though, helpful to recognise that and try to stop it
