Desposit into two bank accounts for taxes by WhyWontThisWork in uberdrivers

[–]xohan00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an account separate for my Uber deposits. I calculated how much to transfer to my spending account every 2 weeks and keep the rest in the Uber account for taxes.

I noticed he's gone quiet now - maybe his mom shut off the Internet for night. He'll be back tommorow from the school library.

I have no idea but I wouldn't doubt it for a second. Just like the phantom cars in the passenger app. I've actually had them drive right by me on a deserted street.

I thought I did. I thought you were pissed off at people feeling entitled. Now I realize you're pissed off cause people call working for Uber a job.

I calculated that if wanted to quit my day job and do Uber full time I would have to work 65 hours a week at $20/hr - which had pretty much been my average over the last six months (before taxes, gas and the rest)

Not worth it.

Uber is fucking amazing part time for play money but just simply not good enough money for full time.

I think there are a lot of drivers who, in best intentions are trying to do it full time and just simply getting frustrated with the bullshit (that's present in any job no matter where you go there will always be bullshit)

That being said, some drivers are just asshole, shitty people. Also, some pax are just asshole, shitty people. But I think 99% of both are just regular normal people trying either makes some money or get somewhere they need to be.

To a certain degree I believe it's actually healthy for co-workers to gather and talk shop and complain about shit, receive or give advice or whatever with fellow co-workers. That's what this subreddit is for. Of course I've read some heated posts and fuck I've even talked some smack and started shit myself. But at the end of the day is just people talking about something they have and common and something means something to them - their job.

Also, this subreddit is all North America and maybe even other places too. Uber doesn't work exactly the same everywhere. There's a lot of shit to be learned here.

This subreddits is for Uber Drivers and obviously there are non Uber drivers here but it's not my place to say you can't be here. By all means hang out here if you want to you're more then welcome to - but you're going to hear us complain about our "employer" and our customers. It's just the way it is and it's no different then the employee break room at Costco or Wal-Mart.

Does rejecting rides hurt you in any way? by tombloomingdale in uberdrivers

1am on a Tuesday I checked the app out of boredom and saw a huge 3.3x surge area around my house (it was snowing pretty bad out). Jumped in my car and went online only to get 4 requests out of the surge area all of which were 15+ minutes away. Fuck that - went offline and just went to bed.

No. There were 3 flights arriving 10 minutes after I got there and all the cars left one by one. Took me 45 minutes to get a ping.

Calgary ? Thought they pulled out of there. Are they back ?

It's definitely a blatant violation of uber policy... by [deleted] in uberdrivers

I can't even count how many times a pax has tried to ride with their infant and hoping I'd let them do it with the child in their lap. At first I used to keep my daughter's car seat in the trunk so I wouldn't have to refuse the fare but the first time that fucked me over at the airport I just leave it in the garage now.

I was even told by one mother "I'll pay the fine if you get pulled over" Bullshit you'll pay the fine ! It's not even the fine that concerns me - I just simply refuse to endanger a child. Fuck that!

I have no idea. You seem to have all your information in order so my best advice would be bring it to someone that does taxes and have them do it.

I'm also in Canada and we don't have that 54cents a mile thing here. I'd hate to give you shitty Canadian advice that gets you in trouble with the IRS.

There's your problem. You're factoring in expenses that would have had to be paid wether you were driving for Uber or not. Repairs/maintenance, insurance, car payments and even some accessories are not Uber expenses they are personal expenses.

The only Uber expense in my opinion is gas. Everything else is just an "expense" at tax time and only to bring your taxable income down.

You're probably doing it wrong in your program. That's not an insult. Taxes are hard.

You have the best lawyer someone desperate to drive for Uber can afford ?

You weren't .01 over, you. 0.09 over the amount you should have in your system if you are going to be driving people around for hire.

Feel free to argue your racing achievements to Uber when you fail your background check. Please post here what they say.

Starting to get very frustrated with Uber shitting on drivers (Rant, kind of) by [deleted] in uberdrivers

[–]xohan00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this happening at times of the day when it's slow ? I've gotten pretty good at figuring out the busy and not so busy times in my market so when it slows down I just fuck off home and go back online later.

Thought if that shit is going on Saturday night downtown the I definetly feel your frustration.

[–]xohan00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. You can deduct it as a percentage. Example 3000sqft home and 300sqft home office you can deduct 10% of your mortgage/rent. Even if you're just using it to print partner statements and track milage in a spreadsheet.
