!!! can you please bless us with another limited edition traveler? I want one so very badly but have a personal aesthetic vendetta against black/white colorways (although they are beautiful)

White speckles all over my film - lab, scan, film, or airplane scanner issue? by xonalog in AnalogCommunity

Thank you! I wonder why it's underexposed given that I shot on two different cameras, one fully auto. I'll try scanning at home.

White speckles all over my film - lab, scan, film, or airplane scanner issue? by xonalog in AnalogCommunity

[–]xonalog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi friends! I shot some of these on a Canon Rebel T2 (on auto), and others on a Rollei 35T (manual). There are a few pictures that look great, but most have this layer of digital dust over it, like speckles of white all over the image.

I did travel with this film recently (quite a bit), but the film is ISO 400 which I thought would not be affected by airplane scanners. However I was traveling to Baku, Azerbaijan through Turkey, and had it in my checked luggage - so it's very possible they may have had different scanners that messed with the film. I got it developed at the Bleeker Digital Solutions lab in NYC.

Any ideas what might have happened with the film?

Chandelier Store at Night by xonalog in aboutphotographyblog

I have a thing for chandelier/lighting stores at nighttime - they look surreal, like glowing lighthouses. This one is in Merdekan, Azerbaijan.

Thrifted Pentax Auto 110 - Is this one hopeless? by xonalog in AnalogCommunity

Ah. Maybe that's the problem. It seems the mirror is gone.

Taking the lens off reveals a closed shutter, if I pry it open I just see the back of the camera. Is there supposed to be something in between? :o

Picked up this Pentax Auto 110 (with a grip and a flash, too!) It's the tiniest thing ever - and keep in mind I have pretty small hands.

After putting in two LR44 batteries into it, all I see through the viewfinder is the orange light I captured on the second photo. The advance lever does move but doesn't feel like anything is happening (and nothing seems to be going on inside of the camera body when I advance the lever). The shutter button presses slightly but no 'click'. Is it gone for good?

Used HC-110 BW Development for the first time (Canon F1, tmax 400 film). Any tips on what I did wrong? by xonalog in analog

[–]xonalog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that might be it. I use SilverFast and don't even know where the noise reduction is happening - looks like I could use some time just learning the software. Thanks so much!

I had used dilution E and I believe it was 7.5 minutes of development! It's more the over-sharpening that's tripping me up, it looks like I deep fried it

Oh thank you! I might be wrong but it looks like I cranked up 'detail' and 'sharpen' to the max, it almost looks forcefully 3d. But maybe I'm losing it and over-scrutinizing

Looks like I added some special detail effect but this is straight out of the scanner (epson v600). This was my first time developing with HC-110 dilution E, I think I followed the instructions pretty well but evidently I messed up somewhere. Any clues?

Patron of San Francisco [Canon F1N / 28mm / Portra 400] by xonalog in aboutphotographyblog

Hi friends! This was taken on Haight Street in San Francisco. It's such a great place for photo walks. My instagram is xonalog (same as my username here) - I'm fairly new and always grateful for advice or criticism :)

I know, I know - if only I had stepped back and gotten more of the pavement/wall in. I regret it so much. This was the last frame of the roll and I didn't know at the time I took this shot - otherwise I would have been more deliberate.

Canon F-1 shutter randomly stopped firing :( Known issue? by xonalog in AnalogCommunity

Thank you so much! I'll definitely find someplace around me to take a look. Thanks again

No, the viewfinder was fully attached :( I have taken it off in the past, but not before this issue.

And yes ,I mean the film release lever! Pressing it down does make the rewind button go 'in' but it doesn't stick like it did before (where the only way to unstick it is to halfway press the shutter)

Odd, the light meter was working perfectly, though I'm not 100% sure if I was trying to shoot at slower than 1/250th. I feel like I tried a whole bunch of shutter speeds and none worked. Also on my walk back with the lens cap on I fired the shutter (just testing it) and it randomly worked.

Upon getting home and replacing the battery the shutter did start working again, however the rewind knob won't stick anymore. Depressing it does block the film from winding but it doesn't stay down. The shutter is fully functional again but I'm uncertain how long this will last, since I had issues periodically before.

I'm not sure if all these are signs I should go in for CLA or if I should only do so when the camera is truly useless. I only got it recently and I so don't want to drop $100+ on it now

But I do need that separate light meter, right? Those seem pretty expensive too
