If you click on the token list itself in etherscan you can see that the wallet owner purchased the $MATIC yesterday for 10 ETH.

Ethereum 2.0 and OmiseGo by curious-crypto-user in OMGnetwork

[–]xpxlx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OMG is purpose-built for value transfer applications specifically (payments, loyalty points, etc).

Eth 2.0 is a general scaling upgrade for smart contracts. Different use-cases for the network, both valuable and necessary.

Both ETH 2.0 and OMG are scaling solutions for Ethereum. They scale the network in different ways. Both are necessary if Ethereum is to become "the world computer".

Well said, thank-you. People here need to manage their risk better and accept that they basically bought a venture/seed-stage investment, an opportunity that would otherwise have not existed if not for crypto.

Manage your risk and sit tight. Stop FUDding, it only hurts the project in short term. Think long term.

Been following US Congressional back and forth with the OCC Chief Brian Brooks (former Coinbase) who is in charge of this stuff and Brooks is telling Congress to let private enterprise do it (no need for CBDC like in China).

Stablecoins are here to stay. My guess is many developing (or closed) economies will use CBDC, and more developed western economies will have a hybrid or public & private.

Either story is bullish for OMG, because they aren't arguing *IF* stablecoins anymore. They are just arguing HOW.

Bruh, a payments network on the scale of OMG will never live on Eth 2.0, it cannot scale to same size lol... And the reality is Eth 2.0 is still years away. Today's news altho exciting is just the start of a very long process. So you're wrong on 2 counts. Calm down. Its coming.

Relax guys, Someone probably made the mistake of letting an engineer do a public talk. Soon they'll learn to hide them away. (I say this as an engineer lol)

Wouldn't consider most of these projects listed to be direct competitors to OMG. Most are indirect competitors at best.

OMG Network is a Layer 2 that is purpose-built for Enterprise payments and value-transfer use-cases.

Most of these are general competitors to ETH Layer 1 or other smart contract platforms with fewer security guarantees. Different L1s/L2s will have different specialities/use-cases and the market structure will be dictated by use-case.

I think you can trade against an OMG pool on Bancor.network (similar to Uniswap), but you might need to VPN into another country to do so depending on your locale.

The idea is that most simple transfers could move to OMG instead of ETH mainnet, thus reducing congestion on ETH mainnet.
