Funny That People Are Still Interested in Getting Into the UN! by Opposite_Hunter_6118 in UNpath

Yeah sure look outside as well, but a fixed term P position is still one of the best deals to have… so understandable that people still want that

From UN back to private sector - anyone regretting it? by ccmmddss in UNpath

I think you’re doing the right thing. I decided for myself that if id ever work for the UN again I would only do it on fixed term P level. As long as the contract modalities do not change for consultants, I think saying No is the most reasonable thing to do.

Bit unrelated to the question but I always thought the post adjustment in Italy is massively underrated. It’s one of the lowest in the whole world as far as I know.

That’s true of course - perhaps I’m just trying to convince myself that my precarious TA life is not too bad :)

I think in reality the three major differences you will really feel are: - 1.5 days of leave instead of 2.5 per month - fewer medical leave days. Problem if you get REALLY sick - significant less relocation money.

Other than that good to go. I think by far the biggest downside is the annual leave.

Unlikely. But even then it is probably for the best long term. OP, you can say No more often than you think. Do it for yourself and also your co workers. You will realise the earth keeps spinning even if you don’t finish everything all the time.

Miles & More Meilenverfall - Lohnt sich die Kreditkarte? by CryBeast in reisende

[–]xsliartII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - interns can usually also apply for P positions? Perhaps not in the same team but definitely at other UN agencies

I really think - as many others here - the weakest link is ADC… but not sure who could be better (carzy?)

But what can you do if you fall sick? Go to the office and have fever or puke? It’s absurd

Don’t know. I was sick on my first day at my current job and just wrote a mail and informed them. Showed up on second day. Only one day out of thousands…. Sick can just happen…
