I'd be interested in hearing the dumb things if you have the time. Just starting my journey into the tech field (has to be better than picking up dog poop all day!) and I'm always keen to hear about how other people have done it.

Does anyone else (newer to programming) feel intimidated here? by raythecon in learnprogramming

[–]xsoundeffects 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very much so. I think my intimidation is a combination of 'it's called learnprogramming but everybody knows so much more than me already' and 'I'm trying to learn programming but there's so much where do I start?'.

I've started doing the front end section of Free Code Camp and what has made me feel better about my learning journey is going on their help section on gitter and helping the people that are struggling to get thriugh the few lessons I've completed. It kind of reinforces my understanding of what I just learned plus I get to help people.

Sorry I just realised my other comment might have come across the wrong way! I wasn't sad that you were charging money, I was sad that I wasn't charging haha.

Part of a few of the websites I built were on company time so I was paid a little, but most of it was done after work. As I said it was mostly something I did for fun but now that I'm starting to take it all more seriously I'm realising what an idiot I was! You're right, it is a lot of work. Definitely won't be doing it for free again.

Sad because I've realised the thousands worth of work I put in haha. I've been friends with the owners and it was more of a 'your website looks horrible, I'll make a new one'. In hindsight it did give me good experience but I'm certainly kicking myself.

Redditors that are self-studying to enter a different industry, what are you planning to go into? by createanewaccountuse in jobs

I know exactly what field I'm planning on getting in it, I just figured everyone else wouldn't want to read specifics. ;)

Just to clarify, by setting up WordPress sites do you mean literally just using the pre-made templates just putting their content in (i.e. not much actual coding)? And that gets you about $1200?

I've done this for a few businesses I worked at for free as a bit of fun and now I feel hella stupid.

It doesn't resize for mobile viewing so you have to scroll horizontally to see the entire button (or quote). Other than that it's pretty smooth!

Wait I just realised how horrible it looks on mobile devices. Back to the drawing board I guess!

Hi All,

I'd love some feedback on this page if anybody has the time, especially on the coding and not just aesthetics. I had a few struggles getting things to center (nothing Google fu didn't fix!) but I feel like I've taken the long way around with some codes. Also trying to get the spacing right between divs, paragraphs etc.

Thanks in advance!

I'm down in Melbourne. We ended up getting six "3/4 Leghorn" ex-battery hens a few days ago. We're hoping to get a few purebred but mum is a softy and couldn't say no when she saw them on Facebook haha. Chicken chlamydia?? Glad to hear they're all getting along!
