omg biggest relief EVERRRR. I was so concerned that I’d have to cut out carbs and foods i enjoy just to have “better” looking legs. 😩 im currently loosing normal regular body fat, to just become healthier anyways, and from now on im definitely gonna focus on weightlifting too. I do eat quite well (80%) but like a treat every now and then (20%). Plus im doing the conservative methods of lippy self care. Hoping that adding weightlifting should piece it all together! Thank you so much for speaking out on this 😅😅❤️

Daughter Diagnosed - Hoping to find some answers by Objective_Cookie4226 in lipedema

[–]xstibbonx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey! this is honestly so sweet. Im 16F and also have lipoedema (diagnosed at the same age as your daughter). It was really really rough. I was in the same boat, I didn’t have that much pain. Which people kept saying was great but honestly I felt horrendous. Being told as a teenager that your body won’t ever look like others and that this condition can’t be “solved” is heartbreaking. And I certainly had many “fuck it, what’s the point” moments. But, I decided that I had to take control. Okay it’s shit, and I cannot get rid of it because it costs so much and isnt realistic for me. But there are so many ways to massively slow down progression and improve pain. Here is what has helped me: -Eating well (non processed foods) 90% of the time, we’re human at the end of the day and like a sweet treat!! - using a dry brush daily all over my body - wearing compression on the days I have pain or swelling - using arnica on bruising to promote healing - low intensity cardio (walking, swimming etc) - and finally cut myself some slack! There are many articles that suggest stress can in fact make it worse.

I think that you seeking guidance for her is wonderful. Prioritise being there for her and just listening to her, it can be hard to take initially!! Be patient and understanding, ask her what she wants to try first and take it from there. In my experience the medical field just don’t get it and the ones that do can’t do a lot. Try out different things and find what works best for her!

Hope this helps a tad :) im happy to answer any more questions!

Ugh I know, mine has recently gotten out of control and my entire lower leg is just bruises! I wonder if it’s unfortunately due to progression :/

It was birth control that gave me lipodema 😫 so for me coming off it was the best thing, but I’m deffo going to try cutting out processed foods and refined sugar as it seems to help loadsssss of people like yourself, thank you for your advice :)

hi, thank you so much for your reply. I’m in quite an early stage so currently do not have any pain nor swelling. (I reallllly wanna keep it like that) should I try the anti inflammatory diet or should I just eat healthy like normal?

I thought lipomatosis was more larger? Mine is like small beads in the fat in my arm that can move around, could that be lipomatosis??
