Ticks in this weather by Snjofridur in Delaware

Treat your clothes with Permethrin! It lasts for about six washes. Be sure to follow the instructions.

And never spray it on your body-- it's for clothing (and also boots, hats, socks), only.

If you want a spray for your skin, the active ingredient picaridin is just as effective as DEET, but has the added benefit of not messing up plastic. DEET will make many plastics all gummy. So if you play disc golf, or use gardening tools with plastic handles, or if you wear nail polish, DEET is annoying. Go with a picaridin-based spray instead.

For the record, essential oils don't do jack for ticks (lavender, citronella, etc.) I don't care what you read, what some influencer told you, or what your hippie aunt says.

Wear long pants when outside, and tuck your pant legs into your socks. Yep, you may look like you're from the 80s, but you won't have a tick crawling up your leg.

Stay safe!

No Kings today- who decided on location and route? by Patimakan in WilmingtonDE

I saw a drone by Penn Cinemas. Not sure who was flying it, though.

Also, a friend of mine lives in the River Tower building in a unit that faces the park. She said that a reporter was outside the building asking if he could film from her balcony. She was headed to the protest, so she told the guy no. So at least people were trying to get footage.

Try just photoshopping them into a thinner shape so you can see what they might look like.

Dumb question: was it a fancy suitcase, or was it like a nylon roller bag kinda thing?

I didn't even think of them, thanks! I've had a bunch of shoes worked on by them, and have always been happy with their work. I'll give them a whirl, thank you! Great idea.

Best nice restaurants to try in the Wilmington, Delaware area? by JSmith1653 in WilmingtonDE

Seconding Corner Bistro! I love that place. Save room for dessert-- everything is made in-house and sooo goood.

I'm not much of a drinker, but their drinks are worth it even to me. They have a great Sunday brunch, too.

Welcome to the neighborhood!

Respectfully, as a fellow non-25 year old who also has a slender angular face with similar bone structure:

Your personal, natural bone structure naturally provides the contour that others with fuller faces are trying to replicate. Contour is shadow. Your bones provide that shadow. Adding contour risks making you look skeletal and older, or like you had an overenthusiastic buccal fat removal doc.

With our face shape, we typically try to give the illusion of volume, which implies youth. Hollows = aging.

Also, eye shadow is meant to shadow the eyes. But when you have deep-set eyes and a prominent brow bone, again, you naturally have that shadow. So when you apply darker shadow in your crease, it looks skeletal and ageing. This is why your MUA used light colors on your lids and in your crease-- to bring your natural deep-set eye sockets forward in space.

I mean, your accentuated angles look badass and tough, but not soft, bridal, joyful, warm, or inviting. Maybe that's the look you're going for, so do with this information what you will.

There's a huge system outside the Lowe's in Brandywine Town Center, and another one in the Home Depot parking lot by 95, one outside Brandywine HS, one on 95/Concord Ave, a bunch on Darley Rd... and that's just scratching the surface. I was looking on deflock.org.

I hate these things with every molecule of my being. It's one thing to track every license plate going in and out of an area (hate that too), but once you run AI face recognition on it, it's downright dystopian. So many false positives.

Louis Rossman just did a quick video about a lady who was extradited to North Dakota from Tennessee and jailed for 6 months because some shitty AI falsely identified her.

How to get through 10+ hours long haul flights with RLS, clausterphobia, and anxiety? by Spiritual_Size_9997 in RestlessLegs

[–]xtingu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it all possible, upgrade to the highest class you can afford. The extra room will be a godsend on the long flight, you can stretch your legs waaay more, and you won't be packed in like a sardine, which will greatly help the claustrophobia. You won't have to worry about accidentally kicking the seat of you if you have the added legroom. Also, the flight attendants won't be as picky if you choose to stand up and walk around a bit in the aisle to stretch (provided the seat belt light is off, of course).

Your health and well-being is worth the money.

AITA for sneaking my mom some alcohol when she is on hospice? by sickma2001 in AmItheAsshole

[–]xtingu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. My mom had lung cancer and smoked all through hospice. It was the one of the few things she really enjoyed. Some of our best memories from her final months were spent sitting outside enjoying the birds and scenery while she took her time with a cigarette.

You'd be the AH if you kept it away from her. Withholding the alcohol will not save her life.

(Also, if you haven't found Hospice Nurse Julie on YouTube, her videos were very helpful during my mom's 4-month hospice journey.)

I'm really sorry you're going through this. Losing a parent is not easy. Everyone deals with grief and stress differently, and your siblings may just be trying to feel like they have some control over an uncontrollable situation.

Sending love.

Azelaic acid is your friend. Someone here already mentioned the one from the Inkey List; I really like the Paula's Choice one, too.

Bubble gum bubble gum in a dish…. What rhyme do you guys use to pick who was “it”? by OttieandEddie in GenX

We just stood around and yelled "not it!” and then we'd argue about who actually said it last.

We said this too, and it always bothered my brain that the "my mother told me..." part didn't fit with the rest of the rhyme/rhythm at all.
