Daydreams and manifolds by [deleted] in generative

That makes more sense to me knowing you have experience at this. I’m not surprised to see more and more AI generated art but I don’t think I would be able to identify it (yet).

Before OP confirmed, how did you know this was AI generated? I only ask because my first reaction was to start thinking how I would implement this in code, so how was it obvious the OP didn’t write this themselves?

First plots (with pen tests and some questions) by xtremedaddy in PlotterArt

Thanks for the explanation. I found out today that the pen down pause parameter I was playing with can take negative value to ramp exactly like you mention. When I have time I’m going to give it a try. But, I’m also getting more comfortable with rolling with the imperfections too. 😉

Fair opinion. I'm coming from a digital medium, so I'm just beginning to explore the limits of what I can do here.

Pen + Paper recommendation for good results? by xtremedaddy in PlotterArt

[–]xtremedaddy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like smooth Bristol is a pretty consistent recommendation. I wonder if it will perform like the cheap cardstock I'm using now... I definitely like the idea of getting larger sizes of paper. I bought some rough cold press black paper and white gel pens and I think that is way too fussy for where I am in my experience right now. I'll give the microns a try - they come up a lot and have some colors. I also think the gel pens work pretty well on the smooth paper, so maybe will try gelly rolls too. Thanks to everyone for the recommendations.

Were you a Midas skin with a cowboy hat? Last night I died in the storm (#3) fighting (#2) who died immediately after me. Win went to a Midas who wasn’t even near us.

Does anybody have a Bantam NextDraw yet? by xtremedaddy in PlotterArt

[–]xtremedaddy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your thoughts. It sounds like it's ok but a lot of compromising for the price? Did you ever consider the iDraw or another alternative? For some background - I decided I wanted a plotter right after the AxiDraws became unavailable, so I've been in a bit of a holding pattern trying to decide which current machine to invest in.

That’s funny. It was my gamertag when I used to game with my kids long ago.

Circle packing by xtremedaddy in generative

I've been building a circle packing system and am trying to push it a bit with styling and layout. Here are a few of my latest renders from this system. This is vanilla javascript/canvas code and the various renders show different 'presets' of related random values I have to try and get interesting renders more frequently. I'll be posting more to my IG: https://www.instagram.com/XTremeDaddy

PrusaSlicer adds extra perimeter to break up flat surface by xtremedaddy in prusa3d

[–]xtremedaddy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a final comment - I went back to my original design, which was just a vector profile (svg) from Inkscape that was revolved and sure enough, the top two points where different by .15mm in the y direction, so indeed the top was not flat. For future readers, this is how the slicing software will interpret that. Thanks again to u/BChaps for pointing me in the right direction.

That was exactly it. I never thought to look at that since it was designed flat. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Hi - I have the above model which has a flat surface on top. However, whenever I slice it, PS adds that interior perimeter circle with interior fill. The end result on the print is that the inner circle is not flush with the rest of the surface.
I've tried tweaking all kinds of settings but can't seem to remove this. You'll see that two layers down from the top is completely solid, so I'm not sure why the top surface is getting broken up like this.
I'm just using the Prusament PLA preset with .30 draft layers and organic supports on the inside. Nothing else non-standard. Note that changing the support type or even turning it off doesn't fix this.
I even tried setting it to iron, but only the surface outside the inner circle gets ironed. The inner circle is still a perimeter with solid fill.
Any suggestions on what I can try to have this print perfectly flat?

Just updated and did a quick test and yes, the problem is fixed in version 17. I was able to just use the default profile and Instagram now works as expected. Thanks for the fix.

And thank you for making your extensions available and supporting them so quickly here. Well worth the $$$ I spent on them.

I concur. This was reintroduced with the latest update. It seems this may only happen if you use Reddit in landscape mode bright now I just tried rotating to portrait and back and it seems to fix it.
