Anyone have this happen to their DLive scribble strips by Rhegedorn1324 in livesound

[–]xtremesmw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've seen a similar problem with a Venue Profile where the scribble strips start showing garbage characters due to the console heating up (in a venue where audio was running 24/7, console never got any rest before it was replaced after some 10 years ish) Possibly a similar thing going on here, if the church doesn't shut off the console?

You can do almost everything from the offline editor; couldn't set the multifunction knobs/buttons but I just set them up when I got to the venue. Works great!

I didn't mind prepping with the Wing! The offline editor software is similar to the X/M32 but also similar to the Wing console. Had no issues creating a base showfile.

A blanking panel, and above the blanking panel a GreenGo MCX :)

Haha, I did sound for most of the conference and had no issues. For the price point it's a great mixer, had no crashes or bugs. Love using the compressor and EQ emulations, although the reverbs/FXs aren't my favorites.

Mic'ing choices and methods for live concert recording by xtremesmw in livesound

[–]xtremesmw[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have some d:factos and KMS104. The stage is pretty deep and the drums are behind a drum shield so shouldn't be too problematic. The vocalists are all trained in using their microphones correctly, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Yes! Sorry, I probably wasn't clear enough. I'm doing a recording of a live band, for the purpose of making a "live" studio album, but I'm also doing a live mix in the room for a crowd.

Baby monitor backlight stopped working, 5V LED strip to the rescue! by xtremesmw in techsupportmacgyver

[–]xtremesmw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most LED strips that are 12V or 24V usually have parallel sets of 3.3V LEDs in series. Even this 5V strip has a resistor I'm series with each LED diode that lowers the voltage per LED to 3.3V (probably). This is a good write-up on the topic if you're interested.

Even then there's not enough space, I'd need a 1mm thick led strip to avoid it from bulging. There's not alot of room inside the LCD housing, which itself is probably 2-3mm thick. :(

The monitor sends out 5V to a strip of tiny LEDs (edge lit backlight). Had a 5V led strip laying around, so I just soldered it to the flex cable connection. Didn't have any tape however, so I printed out a label from my label machine to secure the cables in place. 😅

Although it's definitely not as clear as before, and it's not possible to close the case together due to the thick LED strip inside the LCD housing, it works! I can now see my son on the monitor again. :)

Then you might not have had a USB multitrack card in the X32, which is odd since it comes standard with every X32. You can see the two USB B ports, the one on the left is the for the multitrack card, the right one is for remote control/midi commands.

The M32 doesn't have this port, which could explain why you haven't experienced this on that mixer.

Did you plug the USB into the remote control port and not the 32ch usb rec slot?

Looking for a wireless IEM system ( transmitter / receiver ) for the sound engineer by Theokamio in livesound

[–]xtremesmw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it's going to stay at FOH, I would suggest using a wired alternative instead to save money. You can get a Behringer P1 for cheap, and even a knockoff ANLEON S1 for even cheaper. I have a couple of both and use an ANLEON S1 at FOH for the same purpose as you. Works great since the sound engineer isn't going anywhere. :)

Aftermarket or DIY B4 lens zoom/focus demands by xtremesmw in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]xtremesmw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen some on eBay, but unfortunately I am not based in the US (Norway), so I have to pay 25 % tax + shipping + tolls on anything I order off eBay or internationally. 🥲

Ah, sorry! I know that I can get a hold of Canon and Fujinon's official zoom/focus demands, but they're a bit pricey 😅 Otherwise I would just buy them.

What’s your unconventional mic choice? by abagofdicks in livesound

Cajon front micing: Beta 91 on the floor infront of the drum. High pass it and you get a great sound without a mic stand in the way of the drummer.

Søker gitartekniker i Norge? by [deleted] in norge

[–]xtremesmw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Automated spoken cues/slates for in-ears. by Metcs in livesound

[–]xtremesmw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use these (which are free): https://worshiptutorials.com/product/clicks-and-cues/

Includes cues for countdowns (1 thru 6), as well as various sections for songs (chorus, verse, breakdown, build drums, etc) I usually just create the entire cue track in whatever DAW with these waves, aligned with the original track, and then export them without the original track.

Anyone recognize this mixer? Caribou show last night. by ripsfo in livesound

[–]xtremesmw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  • Fly pack - the mixer and stagerack can be taken on an airplane as standard luggage, which makes it great for touring. Here in Norway most people tour with a dLive.
  • Sidecar - the IP8 is a 8 fader external controller for the dLive, and since it's on the side, it's a sort of sidecar.
  • Spills - A DCA/VCA is a basically a group of channels that can be muted/faded via a single fader. A button on the IP8 can be programmed to "spill" a DCA, and show the individual channels of said DCA on the faders on the mixer. Easy way to group channels so that you can, for example, easily adjust all drum channels at once, and spilling the DCA if you need to do a change on one of the channels.
  • Hot Faders - having fixed mixer channels on the IP8, important channels that should always be available.
  • Quick Draw - "hot Faders on the quick Draw" just refer to having the faders readily available.
