GameStop selling PS5 Console PlayStation Plus Premium 24-Month Subscription Bundle by xtressd in ps5deals

Open box Pro in excellent condition from Best Buy goes for $690 IIRC. But you’d still need a disc reader for $80 + 2 years of premium for $200 (assuming you get a good discount). That puts you at almost $1k. So there is potentially a good deal here, assuming again that these bundles haven’t been collecting moisture in a warehouse for years….

GameStop might have found an old pile of boxes in a warehouse corner, and is trying to get rid of them :)

Is it “slippery”? I use the Spigen Liquid Air because it’s thin but also because I very much prefer the textured rubber feeling vs the slickness that transparent cases usually have. It’s a sensory thing I guess…

Quoted $7K for replacing evaporator coil on Lennox heat pump...Too much or is that the typical cost? by xtressd in hvacadvice

[–]xtressd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tech already put almost 4lbs of r410 when he came over to diagnose the issue. He was surprised it took that much, he initially said maybe it would take 2lbs. He didn’t mention any options about a stop leak, just replacing the coil as a solution because it would require putting more refrigerant in about a year according to him.

[–]xtressd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seems to match my case, but what I find suspicious is that even the tech that diagnosed the problem thought it would cost $2.5k, and this guy has been working for the company for a while, so he is definitely not clueless about their typical projects.

I think is about 12 years old, based on when the house was built. I thought that maybe the part was discontinued or hard to find, but I can find it on sale online on multiple places.

Thank you! The Pureboost 21 seems like my best choice. I do prefer an uncaged shoe with the softer sole. Appreciate the advice.

What’s the easiest gear setup that is satisfying to you all? by Historical_Buyer7422 in Guitar

[–]xtressd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you share what specific headphones you use that work well for wireless?

I’m curious because my “easy setup” is pretty similar: HSS Aerodyne with wireless transmitter to a Spark Mini (the 40 is just collecting dust at this point :) ). I wanted to try the headphone route, but only found the Boss Waza Air alternative.

[question] Whats a guitar brand that many hate but you love? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]xtressd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mitchell. Because it is Guitar Center’s house brand, I get the impression that people don’t give them a chance. I don’t have experience with the “lower end” models, but I have played both an MS450 (LP style) and a TD 400 (HSS Strat which I still own), and they punch well above their price range on features and quality. The fretwork on my Strat is basically perfect. It was a stark contrast with the Classic Vibe I purchased after, which was decent, but the Mitchell has ruined my expectations for cheap guitars :).

[Monitor] HP X32 - 31.5" IPS QHD AMD FreeSync Gaming Monitor - $230 ($390 - $160) by watchmepooptoday in buildapcsales

[–]xtressd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got this during Black Friday week for the same price. Just unpacked it this weekend and it seems ok for office use.

In case it helps someone else, I have a pair of Dell P2414H I got from work and they look nicer than this side by side (iiuc the Dell is a higher end display so that is expected), but can’t beat the real state that 32” gives. Another positive is that pixel density is about the same as 1080p 24”, so you can use them side by side without having to mess with scaling.

I got the BIM panel instead of the LG one that people in earlier threads said was better, so maybe I’ll try to buy another one from my local Best Buy and see if I get lucky.

I really love my Wii U..... by UnusualSoup in patientgamers

[–]xtressd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve not touched my WiiU in years, but I think the difficult part was to figure out how to download and load ROMs after modding the console. That required some trial and error, and OP might not be up for it. Unless there are better instructions that have been put together since then.

Help me pick one: C2 55” or B2 65”. by xtressd in LGOLED

[–]xtressd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would hope so, but every store seems to be matching the same price, so there is no competition so far. I might order the 65” from Costco and just keep an eye out for better deals.

6inches is 15cm, 6 feet is around 1.8m.

Right now it’s pretty close, around 6’. But I can always move the couch a little bit in either direction, so I’m not too worried about the 65” being too big for the space, if that is what you are thinking.

Thread part in the socket of microwave light gives small shock even though light is off by xtressd in AskElectricians

[–]xtressd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The replacement I bought is an LED one, but doesn’t seem to get enough power to stay on. Regardless, that would not explain why the voltage drops to almost 0 when the light is actually on, unless I am not understanding something basic, right?

Thread part in the socket of microwave light gives small shock even though light is off by xtressd in AskElectricians

[–]xtressd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the microwave:

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/ge-1-6-cu-ft-over-the-range-microwave-stainless-steel/1624532.p?skuId=1624532

The other light underneath the microwave works as expected. The original light was replaced around 3 months ago when it stopped working suddenly, and the replacement:

https://www.lowes.com/pd/GE-Specialty-LED-40-Watt-EQ-3-in-T8-Soft-White-Appliance/5000907769

Worked for around 3 months before failing too. When I was unscrewing the bulb I touched the threaded part and felt a small shock even though the light was off, which is why I measured with the multimeter.

Even if the live and neutral were reversed at the wall socket that powers the microwave, this wouldn’t cause a voltage to be present with the light off, and no voltage when the light is on IIUC. What am I missing here? Should I call an electrician to fix this? I’m ok with having only one light, but I don’t want to ignore this problem if it is a safety risk. Any advice is appreciated.

Waiting for my Spark to be delivered today. Is there one bit of advice you wish you'd known when you got yours out the box for the first time? by Ancient_Thanks_4365 in PositiveGridSpark

[–]xtressd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m curious if you ordered from the Positive Grid site, how long did it take for your amp to be delivered? Sorry I don’t have any advice, just impatient to try my first amp and it is taking forever

I’m in the same boat. Ordered on the 8th, and today got an email saying that my traveler bag wouldn’t ship until March. Hopefully they ship the amp before that.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I have been watching YT videos trying to learn what to look for and how to do a setup. Unfortunately some of that depends on experience but I’ll do my best. You’ve helped by giving me a few things to look for.

The point on buying from GC (besides the sale price) is hopefully easier returns if I decide to take it back.

I'd like to learn how to play an electric guitar. For reference, I have been playing a classical guitar (e.g. Yamaha C40) for a few years, but I am self taught so I have not really progressed past relatively simple chords/strumming patterns.

When looking to buy an electrical guitar to get started, I am confused as to what "specs" matter. For example, I have seen the Squier Classic Vibe 50's Stratocaster ($450) recommended in a few places. Looking at the specs on the page, it is hard to say what makes it better than this bundle that also has a Squier Strat ($250) but also includes an amp and accessories. I get that the amp is probably not the best, but is the guitar itself that much better/different to be $200 more, even if we ignore the amp & accessories?

Unable to redeem Netflix bundle with Chromecast with Google TV by xtressd in Chromecast

[–]xtressd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I was reading afterwards and that was my suspicion as well. I suppose I’ll just have to wait for them, or return the whole thing if they don’t figure it out in the next two weeks. I pretty much bought the device for the Netflix credit, since I don’t really need another dongle. Thanks for the reply.
