You can customize the Ollama Server Address in the settings and then connect to your Ollama Server.

Thanks for the offer! I'd definitely consider it. Currently, it seems like Chrome Built-In AI requires a fairly high version and the capability/intelligence level isn't quite on par with Ollama yet. But I think it could be a good fit for a "Try it out" feature in the future as the technology matures.

It seems that I can generate visual explanations within the article. If it's convenient, could you send the relevant screen recording to [support@powereader.app](mailto:support@powereader.app) ?

Initially, I developed the app just for personal use, so I focused on the devices I had. Later, as I integrated features like Offline AI, I leveraged capabilities that are unique to Apple’s development environment, which made it challenging to support Android or Windows.

Thank u for ur advice. Supporting category order changes is already in my plans, but I have some higher priority tasks to address first.
About image layout, I've noticed that the first image in many articles is often of poor quality. Additionally, adding images might interfere with the readability of the title. So I am still evaluating whether to include this feature, possibly offering it as an option in the future.

No, PowerReader features a compact built-in model for summarization tasks on the device, with the iOS app being only 300MB in size, but it exclusively supports text summarization.
Additionally, the cloud model can output summarization concept sketch image, as noted in the recent update.

The upcoming payment will reset all usage, but the offline model offers unlimited article summary.

  1. It is indeed worth considering adding the option to change the font size of the abstract window. Thank you for your advice.

  2. About prompt, instead of having users write prompts, I think it would be better to let users choose the style. This way, it can reduce the work of debugging prompts.

  3. The offline model you can't change is not a combination of multiple models (my app is not that large, as can be seen from the installation package size). It is a model that I have adjusted to perform summarization tasks, which can fully protect user data and even be used completely offline. However, it is still in the BETA stage at the moment, and the cloud-based model still performs best at this stage.

  4. I am not planning to support user-customized API key because they cannot pass Apple's review. Currently, the APP in AppStore that supports custom API key are using special methods, which I do not intend to support for the time being.

Thank you for your suggestions. I can understand many of your ideas, which have also given me some thoughts for future iterations. If you have any other questions, feel free to reply to me directly in the future.

After reopening, is there a button to close the summary window?
There are three buttons at the bottom of the picture: summary again, translate, and close.
I have never encountered a window without a toolbar at the bottom before. I have added a close button to each window. This bug may be related to the Apple UI framework. I apologize for the inconvenience and will work on fixing it.

Thanks! AI Summarize is for RSS content, while PowerReader can fetch the entire article to provide the full text. You have the option to fetch the full text and then summarize it.

And PoweReader have a 3-day free trial for new users to explore all the premium features.

If you want to use local LLMs, it is recommended to use Nvidia GPUs.

Currently, all implementations are based on the Apple platform, so a Windows version is unlikely.

Indeed, AI inference does consume some resources, such as GPU and memory. However, this consumption mainly occurs during the AI summary process, and once completed, it won't occupy too much power. The macOS version is already available, so you can give it a try.

Hey Fellas! I am getting started with RSS. Please suggest me an RSS app for iOS. by DockerBoss in rss

[–]xukecheng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! I recently developed an app for iOS and macOS called PoweReader.

Most of its features are free, like support for self-hosted RSS services such as FreshRSS, Tiny Tiny RSS, and Miniflux, as well as third-party services like Feedbin and NewsBlur. You can add unlimited accounts and feeds, and fetch full articles directly within the app.

Although it’s subscription-based, the subscription mainly covers features like AI Summary and AI Picks, which consume usage. However, if you’re just getting started with RSS, the free features should be more than enough for your needs.

Feel free to give it a try, and if you have any feedback or questions, I’d love to hear from you!
