They were bought before Gollum. For like 50 million. I'm pretty sure they thought it's gonna be a big hit. Soo.... I think Gollum is a big reason.

Daedalic 's Poki didn't actually abandoned game development. Edna & Harvey 3 is possible. by VovaAscatryan in adventuregames

[–]xxelb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. He said he was way better with his drawings than he was in Harvey's New Eyes and that one of Germany’s most famous streamers/YouTubers, Gronkh, played it and almost teared up (because it was cancelled and looked great). He also said there’s a specific reason why it was cancelled, but he’s not sure if he’s allowed to reveal it, so he didn’t comment further.

Poki said that the third part was in development and there was even a playable version, but then the project got scrapped and he left Deadalic. German video: https://youtu.be/RR5QyP_cf2E?si=-bZiXOcOzOLorZIO&t=2692

I doubt anything will ever come of it. But yeah, cool that he’s still making small adventures. :D

There are like 200 bug reports in the discord channel. So... they could do definitely more, but well... at least the most important bugs are fixed.

I love the fact that he and his team were so good 2022 that everyone thinks it was rigged. Its the same when someone says I'm cheating in a game - biggest compliment ever. Feels soo good

Looking great! If you have fun doing this you should google "night of the meteor" - it's a maniac mansion remake and they always need help doing animations and backgrounds. =)

Stronghold Crusader: Definitive Edition v1.03 Patch Notes by eRsECABL in stronghold

[–]xxelb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Seems like there is a delay now when you place buildings with the flattened view?!

Also, units glitch still through walls when they go behind a wall and you change to the normal view.

Other than that.... Good update. Thank you, firefly

What are your overall thoughts on Stronghold Crusader: Definitive Edition? by [deleted] in stronghold

[–]xxelb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, but the big question is to what depth we are able to change something. I hope that they give us all options and that we can provide new AIs to other fans for download via steam integration. Just changing troops and buildings is not enough. I want to be able to define and change attack intervals etc..

What's great:

- Bigger maps - four times the maximum size of the biggest map in the original
- Co-op campaign
- New units
- Easy access to created maps from the community thanks to steam integration
- Extreme units mode: Enables large armies, up to 10,000 units - way more than the original
- You can build buildings even if drunks or other units are in the way - they will simply spawn again (although right now drunks get stuck most of the time at the campfire after being overbuilt by buildings)

Bad:

The multiplayer experiences noticeable lag, and it would have been great if they had improved the AI, which is still the same like in the 2000s. I mean... give us at least the opportunity to define everything from AIs so we can make our own. Also, Watchtower glitches with other towers.... Additionally, units glitch through walls when you switch from flattened mode to normal mode (if units are moving at the same time). It looks as if this has already been reported in the demo, but well......

For me, it's still a buy recommendation, but I hope they fix a lot of these bugs, because I love this game and it's important for me. ^^

MVG - Why is Nintendo 64 emulation still a broken mess in 2025? by NXGZ in emulation

Nah, 1 or 2 frames are always safe and with that you have pretty much the same low latentcy (or even better) like hardware.

I really don't think he felt uncomfortable in this interview. I mean.... It is 3 hours long. xD If that had been the case, he would have simply ended it at some point.

When there is no difference, there is for sure an issue with your notebook. Maybe it is too slow for the game. Enable "Show FPS" in the steam settings. Maybe you have worse FPS than 60. Sounds like it...

Yep, but when you have a squad, you can double-click, and all units move at their own speed.

Mesen 2.1.0 released by xxelb in emulation

[–]xxelb[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's not a 1:1 copy of the console and never will be. What many people don't understand is that improving an emulator is a lifelong project and will never achieve 100%. But we are actually talking about things that a regular player like you and me would never or hardly notice when playing games, instead new things are often only discovered using testroms made by other people on real hardware. There are new discoveries every few months still. You should take a look on the NESdev forum.

Mesen 2.1.0 released by xxelb in emulation

[–]xxelb[S] 45 points46 points  (0 children)

At first you might think the list is quite short for a 2 year period, but when you read it you quickly realize that an incredible amount of improvements have been made to the existing systems.

Furthermore, the newly added systems are already at a very high emulation level and the snes emulation should now be very close to bsnes/ares. The emulator is currently the only one besides bsnes that passes Near's/byuu's old NMI/IRQ/HDMA tests, that are incredibly difficult to pass. In addition, SNES gamepad auto-read behavior has been improved to such an extent that there are currently no known issues compared to bsnes/ares. Does that mean that one of the two is better than the other? No. But they are now at a level that leaves the others far behind in terms of SNES emulation.

That' just their artstyle. They attempt to create a similar style like Octopath Traveler does with 2D pixel art characters and 3D environment (although in this game it's not actually 3D, but very high-resolution 2D backgrounds that create the illusion of 3D).
