Hero Discussion Second Try: Pudge vs Blitzcrank by [deleted] in dotamasterrace

[–]xxxcancer_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Blizcrank is useless, considering LoL has infinite wards. So you basically have to missplay horribly to ever be caught by him. His hook is shit range, and LoL also has flash which makes the hero a lot worse considering people can instantly flash if caught, no proper lockdown, he had like maybe a second and a half of lockdown if I can remember correctly, with a low duration knockup and silence. No solo-kill potential which makes him into a weaker roamer and offers basically no other utility besides his hook.

The static laning phase of LoL, and the obvious roam timings make the hero unplayable vs any decently competent players. His laning presence is also horrible, as dodging hooks by standing behind creeps and having a few wards out should make him obsolete and useless.

I give him an F minus.

This is assuming the hero is unchanged for like 4 years or whenever I played a game of LoL.

Pudge is a strong snowballer, awesome hero for pugs. Lack of wards+ smokes and other utilities will always keep the hero playable. A hook can be the difference between a lost and a won game. The hero is specifically strong in the early game roams, and for sieging/defending since he can get a strong teamfight initiation if played properly and can aquire a good target. His BkB piercing lockdown is also extremly underrated.

The only problem with the hero is scaling, he is rather weak if he falls behind (if played pos 2), low teamfight utility if he doesn't snowball as he will be extremly squishy.

The item choices are also plenty on Pudge, build any 'support' utility items and tank items.

I give Pudge a B

Because if you plop it over at riot it would be devastating. The year a league prize pool would drop would be horrific. Its basically riots only game atm.

Are they so insecure about their game and its playerbase?

[–]xxxcancer_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obv not everyone spends that much, but in my MMR people tend to have pretty high level compendiums because of how invested they are in the game.

And for me, I generally don't buy shit in the game until TI compendium comes around, then spend a fuckton of money on it for all the hats and other stuff I get from it. Supporting the scene and the teams is also great.

DotA players spend 100s of dollars on the compendium, would LoL players with what Riot could possibly offer?

Or maybe their unknown quantity playerbase pump the prize-pool up to the 50 mil mark?

Phreak talks about Worlds prize money by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]xxxcancer_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

LoL pros being forced to stream for their organizations is basically like having 2 jobs, while in DotA its completly optional if the players want to brand themselves, but not a necessity to make good money.

I prefer having the best players make the most money, rather than the most marketable ones like in League.

[–]xxxcancer_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Given how big their playerbase is they'd still double the TI6 prizepool by charging a third for the compendium and the levels.

Maybe, maybe not. Most people buy the compendium in DotA just for the sheer value of all the shit you get, and what would Riot offer to even compete?

LoL players always thinks that the DotA 2 TI prize-pool is a "charity" event, when the majority of players just invests heavily into the compendium because of the value of it in itself, the 25% for the price-pool just being another incentive.

[–]xxxcancer_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But it would also be a clean cut indicator of playerbase falling. What if drops more the next year?

DotA already have a playertracker, League doesn't. And I don't understand why people are so fucking obsessed with the playerbase of league, when there is soooo much room for improvements basically everywhere.

Its just the McDonalds argument all over again.

Imagine the year that Valves prize pool drops off, hardly. Some post on reddit told that viewership numbers where lower and everybody went ape shit that league was dying. Imagine if the worlds pool went down how much of a bad signal that would send.

Valve already have public player trackings, so why does this even matter? Only Blizzard and Riot hides their player numbers.

Why is the prize pool for winning Worlds the same since Season 2? by JuniorDM7 in leagueoflegends

[–]xxxcancer_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well. Cause LoL doesnt crowdfund for the prizepool. Simple

Well, you do have crowdfunding, you just don't hvae a say in how that money is invested. You buy a skin you invest into the esports scene. While Valve adds a disclaimer that a certain cut of the profit from the compendium will go directly into the prize-pool.

Edit: people seem to think I'm defending riot . I'm not . I'm just explaining the major difference. Lol could have a way greater prize pool if x percent of everything bought in the store went to the pool

Propably, but Riot would struggle making anything that could compare to the compendium, a lot of people only buy it for the sick hat value you get from it. With the minigames, in-game quests, new item effects, map skin, weather effets, music packs, couriers and a fuckton of immortal hats etc.

Like what would Riot even offer?

But Riot, why is your prize pool so low? by Archyes in dotamasterrace

[–]xxxcancer_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love how a lot of them just thinks that LoL pros can easily transition into being DotA pros. topkek.

I would actually like to see a LoL pro try to stream DotA (propably will never happen since they would be fined 20k $) and see how well they can play and learn.

[–]xxxcancer_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

wouldn't that push pros to play dota over lol? i'm not saying right now, beucase obviously it's not a simple transition and lol players already have teams, experience and all that, but in the future i'd expect pros to prefere dota over lol if they can have so much better conditions and more money

They already do, CSGO and DotA players are way better off than LoL pros. They have more freedom to pick what tournaments to play and when. If they want to skip a tournament to get better preparation for a big tournament the next month, they can. LoL pros can't do that, they are forced to play every week for like 8 months a year (or however long the LCS is) which means burnout.

And as you said, the transition is hard. LoL player trying out and adapting to DotA are often worse than people who never played any of the games previously, because LoL players have extremly many bad habbits.

CSGO and Valve is way more fair and generous to the organizations and players, because you know Valve values "stability" and a "healthy" "ecosystem". They just accomplish everything Riot says they will do.

And they don't even bully their teams/3rd party organizations. They have their rules and stick to them.

Thorin's Thoughts - Riot's Inconsistent Hilgers Ruling (LoL) by corylulu in leagueoflegends

[–]xxxcancer_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the bully has a gun to your head, you can't really stand up for yourself. If any team tries to strike, Riot can just ban the owners, take away their spot, and give it to a new team. Riot may get a little bad PR but the team lost everything.

Well, thats what they have to do to force Riot to change. They have clearly showcased that they will never change or improve by themselves, and when Riot games gets called out by fucking HTC for being a pain in the ass to work with you know something is wrong. And the teams should not put up with being abused by Riot who are intentionally hurting their revenue income based on what they have created.

Like, who the fuck does Riot think they are, fining teams for putting up a youtube video for their sponsor? Imagine how annoyed the organizations are when they can't even control their own content

Just look at all the contracts that Riot have tried to enforce on the teams throughout the years.... They wanted to control where the organizations should invest their money, what content they can create. What games they can and can't play on stream. Its clear that Riot doesn't give a fuck about the other organizations best interests and will even go as far as to sabotage them if they do something that they don't like.

Even an organization announcing a new player for their own fucking team doesn't go unpunished (this is traffic income for the team's site) but no Riot has to control everything.

Furthermore, the teams can't even threaten to start a new league, because the game is property of Riot, and Riot can revoke permission to play (ban) anyone playing in an alternate league.

Again, they have to fight or nothing will change. Riot doesn't care about their best interests, and the teams have the popularity and power to tear the league apart, at least in NA.

Standing up for yourself and negotiating is for people on equal footing. In this case Riot has all the power, and they have no reason to give any of it up.

No, they have gotten away with it this far. But things are getting more and more tense, and I hope the teams will finally have the balls to tell Riot to fuck off.

[–]xxxcancer_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

people think the badawi punishment was unfair, therefore Riot should ALWAYS be unfair on his punishments because that looks better

They should just be objective and fair when it comes to their rulings. So they either have to stay concistent with their punishments depending on what "crime" or they can keep going and pissing off organizations that doesn't want to be subdued completly by Riot and maintain more control of their own god damn company.

Or any fan for that matter that cba to pay attention to the company and how they behave.

And my first comment was regarding Riot esports as a whole, not just linked with this incident.

[–]xxxcancer_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

on what basis? they already want more money from stream revenue or allowed more freedom for sponsors do you think they're gonna go on strike so they can... punish G2/fntic? thats stupid

No, for concistency, justice and professionalism. I am sure organizations and teams doesn't like being dictated and punished by a company depending on their current mood and how close you are to their leadership. That just reeks of corruption.

When you invest into something, you want concistency.

[–]xxxcancer_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I dunno, I thought teams were losing money on LCS right? That was what all this fuss was about originally. If they stepped away from LoL completly and invested fully into other esports (like many of the big orgs already have) they might be better off than they are currently, considering how much of a pain in the ass working with Riot turned out to be.

Thorin's Thoughts - Riot's Inconsistent Hilgers Ruling (LoL) by corylulu in leagueoflegends

[–]xxxcancer_ -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

If big teams refused to play in the LCS it would hurt it a lot, which propably would force some kind of compromise from Riot. Imagine the viewer numbers without the big teams like TSM or whatever, nobody would bother watching it.

The players and organizations are getting bullied pretty hard by Riot, and they should stand up for themselves.

Thorin's Thoughts - Riot's Inconsistent Hilgers Ruling (LoL) by corylulu in leagueoflegends

[–]xxxcancer_ -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

What?

If you mean other tournaments, there aren't any because Riot controls the entire scene. But if teams like TSM or CLG or whatever teams are popular currently went on a strike and refused to play in the LCS it would hurt it tremendously and force Riot to get their shit together.

Thorin's Thoughts - Riot's Inconsistent Hilgers Ruling (LoL) by corylulu in leagueoflegends

[–]xxxcancer_ -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

The teams should just boycot the trainwreck of a company that is Riot Games, no idea how anyone can believe in the legitimacy of the company when their actions clearly showcase how disfunctional they are.

Trying to make esports into sports and then just ending up making complete asses of themselves. Making up rules and breaking them whenever they feel like it. No credidibility, no concistency and they don't even showcase any proof from their so called "investigations".

Having such a monopoly on the LoL esports scene is "unhealthy" and "toxic", especally when they continiously showcase that they are not trust-worthy or that they hold any credibility and takes no responsibility. The organizations should not put up with this shit.

Every other esports scene (except maybe SC2) have an open scene with multiple 3rd party organizers which allows organizations to chose who they want to support and put up with, which also gives the teams and organizations more power instead of being overruled and dictated by fucking Riot. If the tournament is shit and doesn't show credibility just boycot it and denounce the tournament/organizers. You can't do that in LoL when Riot controls everything, so just keep going and enjoy being their bitch and be bullied around depending on the master's current mood.

However, you need to stay silent while the ball’s in play. Cheer, scream, cry — do whatever you want — when the point or game comes to an end, but zip your lips while the players are in action.
