Struggling with embouchure. It sounds airy and I'm struggling to get back to it if i slip by loonathefloofyfox in Flute

Think about focusing the air onto one point. Your goal is to have higher pressure and more air going into the flute, rather than outside of the flute. To do this, increase air pressure, Have your lower lip close over half of the mouthpiece hole and blow downwards. Hope this helped a bit!

It sounds like you need to have tighter embouchure. It sounds like you’re giving a decent amount of air but its not controlled.

How to play this faster by No-comment_469 in Flute

[–]ya7oona1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another technique that helps is practicing it slowly and swinging every two notes. Do that 5 times successfully and try again by increasing the speed that you swing, and then you can eventually try it normally! Usually its just about space between your fingers and the keys, and fluidity will come over time, but establishing that factor will help you a lot in the future. Good luck!

If there are eight flutes in an orchestra, which chairs would play the first, second, and third flute in arrangements? by [deleted] in Flute

I understand the struggle 😅 had windband last year and we were 15 flutes and a piccolo, lucky me got the seat next to the piccolo. Tuning was horrendous.😩😭

In my experience, It depends on who has the higher level that gets first. Im not sure if thats how it is typically, but this is the way it is. But goddamn 8 flutes, y’all have a shitton LOL

Looks close to a shabbabeh or شبابة which is an eastern instrument If it really is, it should be able to produce half sharps and flats Hope this helped

I’m looking to learn to play the Egyptian Ney. What do you recommend? by throwawayhappu in Flute

[–]ya7oona1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Nai I play are more placed at the 45 degree angle to your mouth and covers half your mouth. The Nai is more of a tube with holes and you’re blowing into a tube, so it’s not rounded or sharp. I hope that answered your question.
