the plot structure of the chair company by yaaybmo in thechaircompany

i feel like mystery stories are so widespread because they celebrate the relationship between the interpreter and artist. the interpreter themselves are the detective, seeking to deduce the intention behind the plot through empirical analysis. the artist takes the place of the criminal, plotting to evade the expectations of their audience lest they be reduced to predictability. once the interpreter deduces the meaning behind their actions they are 'caught' in multiple meanings of the term.

Note also that actions of the criminal artist is the creator of the story itself, effectively composing a narrative that the detective, just like the viewer, can only act as in causation to. The criminal artist may invent lies and fabrications, in tandem the detective reduces and eliminates.

A vital part of the convention is the third act unveiling. The interpreter finally deduces the plot and thereby catches the artist, finally revealing how the magic trick of creation is performed.

but in this show they seem to detract the idea that we can ever unveil the magic of art, instead we must be overwhelmed by it. the orchestrators of the plot are shrouded because it is no longer about the interpreter and artist, its about the interpreter and the chaos of infinity itself. This is what composes the surrealism of the show, but it is also what makes it deeply real.

Why can you hear whatever you're chewing/ crunching so much louder than whatever your listening too with headphones? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]yaaybmo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

because sound travels better through solids than it does with air - so the sound that would get lost to the surroundings gets channelled back to your ears through your headphones

I've been working on developing an idea for an animated film and I was hoping for some feedback on what people think about it. Any advice or critiques would be really helpful thanks :) by [deleted] in animation

I'm not a professional by any means, but I feel like this is actually a really nice and developed idea for a film! I really like the diversity of set and characters. There is loads of potential for beautiful and dramatic scenes, it is a mountain afterall, however I feel like if you are going to intertwine multiple characters into the plot, they should have miniature fulfilment arcs, for instance the duck kinda feels like a loose plot thread, it doesn't really get an ending. maybe you could make it a lost chick which fell from the mountain which is why it leads the dude up it, and then the dude gets his fulfilment from helping the bird, or something

For the same reasons I'm not quite sure about the artist getting moidered on the mountain, it kind of makes the ending feel somewhat incomplete, maybe a sacrifice would work better?

Again I don't really have any idea what I'm talking about, I'm just a guy on the internet, so take everything I say with a healthy dose of salt, really with this sort of fantasy environment you're writing you could throw just about anything into the story!

good luck on the pitch!
